Hi. So myself (Irish) and my wife who is a US Citizen filed our 1-130 in early October. Today she got a letter from homeland security requesting her to attend an interview in person. It said that she was to bring her passport, wedding certificate and evidence of the relationship. Has anyone any experience of this and what the problem might be? If it's more evidence they want i thought they would ask for it to be sent in the mail and not an in person interview. The evidence we submitted was photos and letters from family members who knew us. This has both of us worried so i'd really appreciate if anyone could enlighten us on what the issue might be. Thanks.

We've seen a few cases recently where the petitioner was summoned to interview with no obvious red flags. It may be a new development tied with the fact that petitions are now often handled at local offices to spread the workload from the CSC and VSC

What city is the interview in ?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

did you send enough evidence of bonafide marriage with the i130? sometimes they request an interview at the local office when not enough proof has been sent. so when your wife goes, have her take all documents and evidence to show bonafide marriage.

Could be a name issue, if your wife's name is popular and there is someone else out there who shares it who is on a watch list somewhere. It's most likely just an identity check to match name and paperwork, so don't worry. :)

Thanks for the reply's everyone. It wasn't a proxy marriage and no crimes have been committed by anyone. The interview is in Indianapolis and yes her name is very common in the States. The evidence we had when we submitted was lots of photos of us including ones with her entire family when i visited and a letter from her mom saying our relationship was real. The only extra evidence we could submit is more photos of us when we went on vacation to Paris and Rome and with my family when she came visit Ireland after the 1-130 was submitted. FYI we got married at a Justice of the Peace in Indy in September. I spent 10 days in the States. We met in Asia teaching english and we both returned to our respective countries in August. Thanks.
