Gotta love the idea that American workers don't benefit from Unions. Guess history is not a strong suite for the RWN crowd. Back to surfdom for the lot of them!

Of course American workers benefit from unions. Or at least they used to. The problem is the unions benefit from American workers more than the American workers benefit from the unions these days.

Only if you believe in fairytales...

Hostess Brands filed for liquidation this week. Management blamed its workforce for the failure.

That is scapegoating.

In 1978 Dan White killed San Franciscos mayor George Moscone and city supervisor Harvey Milk. The press labeled his defense the Twinkie Defense because he claimed eating sugary junk food like Twinkies caused diminished capacity. Amazingly the jury bought it, and convicted him of manslaughter instead of murder saying he really wasnt responsible for his own actions. An outraged city rioted.

Nobody is rioting, but managements claim that unions caused Hostess failure is just as outrageous.

At a non union shop...

Can't fix it cus, the boss never invested the time and money in properly training anyone, out sourcing is much easier, of course the boss is now accusing the government of not spending enough money on education, so the boss can keep all the profits and invest as little as possible on R and D.

Nah, that's just a bad boss and employees that aren't self motivated to learn. Maybe its the companies job to train you, maybe its not. I know this, if you learn on your own with the company's resources (as in their equipment) you'll be able to leverage this knowledge to gain a higher salary at that company or the next. Or you can sit on your hands until the company shows you how to do your job.

Well that's the gist of it right there. When you work a union job, you don't get paid based on your performance. You get paid based on how long you've been in that position. Not exactly a formula that produces high productivity. I was 17 when I got my first union job. They handed me some paperwork that stated you will be paid X dollars per hour and you are considered junior bucket washer or whatever. Then after one year, you will earn y dollars per hour and we will call you senior bucket washer. It didn't matter how well I washed buckets in that first year, I would still earn senior bucket washing wages in the second year.

Another fun thing. The janitors at the job site where I was working went on strike. So for 3 weeks I didn't work because we couldn't cross their picket line.

I remember once going to work and forgetting my union card. The union card checking nazi happened to roll through, and I was sent home

There you go quoting Forbes - this communist rag - to defend Unions and hate on Management.

I worked in a Union plant for 15 years. The only thing the union ever did for them was shut the place down
