Hello all,

I am new to this web site which I found very interesting, lots of information.

I just met a girl, and I am planing to visit her soon, she is in Manila, right after that, I will file the I-129, my question is the following: I am about 25 years older than her, does any body know if this will be an issue to get the application approved?

Thank you.

I do not think it will be an issue for them as long as you can prove your relationship is real and genuine. That's all what they care about I think.

Just one question. Did you already meet her before? or is it gonna be the first time? Either way, good luck if you enter in this visa process! You are in the right place to seek help!

I am 21 years older than my husband and age wasn't even brought up, I am the USC and I attended the interview with my husband. I was questioned by the CO and age was not mentioned to my husband or myself.

30 years difference here. She was 19 when applying K-1.

In four years with innumerable threads on this at the Philippine subforum not one person has testified to an Embassy Official asking about the age difference.

But you will see people asserting without evidence that it matters. They will say that you have to submit exactly the same proof of relationship as everyone else. That's how much it matters.

I wouldn't be surprised if over 50% of the applicants in US Embassy in Manila have age gaps of over 20+. All of the applicants that I talked to during my interview 7 years ago were engaged to older guys. Their interviews lasted as long as mine was. My husband and I have a 5-year gap. It's the norm over there for Filipina-American relationship even if it's not for Filipina-Filipinos.

In my opinion, through personal experience and thorough observation on VJ for over 6 years, age gaps do not seem to matter to Immigration Officials. The issues would arise from significant cultural differences, that are easy to identify on VJ in this forum:

All the best on your Visa Journey!

Just approved in Bangkok with a twenty-two year difference (sixty-four and forty-two). The issue did not come up in my (now) wife's interview. I think the age of the younger spouse is more of a concern than the absolute difference.

You might get the petition (not an application) approved but she will have to prove to the Manila Embassy that you two have a legitimate relationship.

How can you have one when you, as you stated, just met her and are just now planning to visit her, never have visited her ever and are now planning to file the petition to be allowed for her to immigrate to the US and for you two to marry? Maybe everything is too quick and too soon for you guys? Just saying based on what you said.

You absolutely right. I need to matured the relationship more. Well, that is why this site is so great, educates and informs people like myself. I have found so many answers to questions I had before to the point that I have recommend this site to my GF in Manila, she is getting informed as well. Thank you.
