My case for CR1 visa got approved, I am wondering how many months I have to wait for interview date and getting visa!

headbonk.gif

I read this and went into a recursive/endless loop in my brain... How is a visa approved YET you're waiting for an interview date for the visa. Like a Catch22...

Your PETITION was approved... NOT the VISA.

Now that that's out of the way, it takes a month to month and a half at NVC, and after all the support documentation/passport/fees, etc are taken care of, you will have an interview date assigned by the NVC at the Consulate that serves the beneficiary's location of residence.

I would say about 2+ months atleast.

Thanks,

Chigs

PS. Please come to terms with the actual terms such as "petition" vs. "visa" as there are separate processes involving both.

Ahmad,

My I-130 was approved on Feb 27 and i got interview date for Nov 23 so you can see the time frame here.

After I-130 approval, your file is transfered to NVC and it stays there until you submit all documents and they give you interview date

The sooner you respond to them, the quicker they will process and give you date for interview

Have these forms ready to send

First you will send NVC

Ds-3032 Choice of agent form with benificary signature. If there's no lawyer then the petitioner is Agent

Then NVC will issue an invoice which you will pay online and print your cover sheet and you will send NVC

- I-864 Affidavit of support

- Tax Returns and W-2 forms plus paystubs from past six months

- Employement letter that states job title and salary

Place your bar code cover sheet ontop of documents

Then NVC will issue you another invoice of $230 for visa application, you wil pay online and print cover bar code sheet and send NVC

- DS-230 Application for vissa Part I & II. (Benificary will sign Part I only, part 2 will be signed at interview)

- photocopy of benificary passport

- Original nikka nama, marriage certificate, birth certificate and police clearence certificate of all places benificary has lived for atleast six - months since reaching the age of 16

- Two passport size photo of benificary

- Also send some wedding pictures like 5-6 photos (Shaadi + Valima)

Place cover bar code sheet on top of your documents. Once you send in DS-230 application packet, in one week your case will be completed and in following two weeks you will be given interview date. Yes just as simple as that

Just make sure you have them all READY to send. NVC is fast with processing so the sooner you send them the sooner they will reply to your request.

i wasted alot of time with police certificate cuz they are hard to obtain but start working on it.

I wasted over a month, yet still my entire CR-1 process took exactly 9 months, so you can imagine if i had everything ready i would have been done in 5-6 months

You have covered big waiting part which is USCIS, now its all upto you.

Sorry i applied on Feb 7 and I-130 was approved on May 27th

You "petitioned" and your petition was approved. An approved petition allows the foreigner to APPLY FOR a VISA. Please stop referring to petitions as applications or petitioning and applying.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
