OK so the realtor came by yesterday to have a loot at my apartment. I got a good vibe, feels like he will do a good job. Plus my uncle knows him so it's good to have that connection. I don't think I'll get screwed. We were on the same page regarding the starting price, which also felt good, I was a little worried he would evaluate it and set the price lower than my expectations. It remains to be seen whether I will get that, though, but at least it feels good where we're at right now.

I've started looking at flights. I have a question. Seeing as how return flights are generally (a lot) cheaper, can I book a return flight or do I have to book a single trip ticket? I mean, I won't be using the return ticket (assuming POE goes according to plan), but maybe I can just cancel the return ticket at a later date after POE? What do you guys think?

Buying a roundtrip ticket and then not using the return portion is a common practice. You are correct that sometimes an excellent deal is offered with an RT and the same one way is more! What you suggest is a viable option. Not sure how the refunding of the portion of the ticket not used will work. Each airline has it's own rules on this. I search flights using "webjet.com" and they do have International screening (not just Australia). If you happen to know anyone in France that works at Dassualt maybe you can hitch a low cost ride on a Falcon going to Little Rock. :innocent: I used to work there and there were Ferry flights every week from France. Guaranteed...no crying babies on the trip!

I initially planned on calling NVC this Friday to know whether they got my DS230. But changed my mind and tried calling today since it's been 10 working days since the packet got delivered. The AOS got reviewed after 10 working days, so I thought why not give it shot. I was waiting and I told myself if it takes more than 3 mins and I'm still waiting, I'll just call on Friday. Just when I was about to hang up, my call got picked up! And so..yes, they got my DS230 already and...our case is complete! Now, it's time to wait for the interview date!

I was told NVC will email about the interview date. I guess I should give it another 10 working days. If we don't get it by then, we'll start calling!

Congrats and thanks for sharing, def seems like even calling tomorrow may be a little too soon for me since I just sent the AOS last friday and my IV should be getting there within the next hour.

Glad you got a good vibe with the realtor! Hope everything continues to go well with that.

You can book return or one way, doesn't matter! And as long as there isn't some sort of fee for cancelling, then yeah, just cancel the return flight once you've made it past POE. Lots of people do this.

case approved on 8th Nov 2012

i still have not heard anything from NVC, we have been calling them , the people there says wait for 14 business days, sent the mail too...but nothing yet

Please help me, how soon can i hear them after sending mail to them.

Looking at my spreadsheet, those with NOA2s around that date and a little after have already gotten their case numbers. You may want to contact USCIS and make sure that your case was indeed sent out to NVC. Make sure you get an exact date from them.

I initially planned on calling NVC this Friday to know whether they got my DS230. But changed my mind and tried calling today since it's been 10 working days since the packet got delivered. Hi everybody!

My wife's immigration case (IR-1) is completed on Nov 19, 2012.

Yesterday I've got NVC e-mail: P4 FOR NEOPOST DS-1200 and ***INTERVIEW HAS BEEN SCHEDULED on Jan 28, 2013***

Should I do my new Federal Income Tax Return for 2012 specially for my wife's interview (Jan 28, 2013) in reason to bring the sponsor's most recent Federal Income Tax Return or is it OK that AOS was accepted with 1040EZ and W-2 for 2011 on Nov 19, 2012?

On the day of interview it will be 2 month only after AOS was accepted by NVC and I have right to file my Income Tax Declaration for 2012 no later then Apr 15, 2013.

Thanks in advance!

First off, grats on getting the interview date!

Second, up until the tax deadline in April, the 2012 taxes won't be required, so it's up to you if you want to file taxes. You probably won't get them done in time by your interview date though, so keep that in mind. If you receive the W2s for 2012 though, you can always bring those along (just copies) to the interview to show how much was made for 2012.

Edit - Falling Ice: Booo, you have no timeline. It's never too late (if you still remember the dates for major milestones).

You don't need a SSN to file taxes jointly. The first year, my husband and I did it jointly with me getting an ITIN. Simple process :)

But, it would be easier for the OP to just wait until after their spouse has arrived to file jointly, to skip the ITIN process, so they can get their refund (if applicable) faster.

Thanks guys. I appreciate it.

My uncle may know someone who has a travel agency or something, he knows everyone and their brother.

Maybe even if there's a fee for canceling the return ticket, it may still be cheaper. I'll see what I can find. Again, thank you. :)

In America? And risk having the airline company sue the pants off-a me? As much as my wife would like that, I think I'll not take any chances. ;)
