I have seen that the police checks are necessary for the second part of the process, but I have not seen anywhere where it says how far back you have to go. Everywhere you've lived? I think this is going to be the hardest part of the process for us, because of the several countries we've lived in recently.

Thanks for your help.

This is going to suuuuuuuuuuuuck! :)

Thanks!

And be watchful of how long the police report is good for if u plan to get them ahead of time before u get to NVC. Like us Nigeria police report is only good for 3 months so that clock be ticking.

An Embassy or Consulate is only concerned with the issue date of a police report, not any expiration date. Obtain them as close as is practical to when they are to be submitted. If you no longer live in a country, you can obtain them now.

Correct, age 16, not "adult".

Everyone else so far is wrong. You need a police check from countries, other than that of your nationality, where you have lived for TWELVE months, not 6.

Here is the link: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3195.html Scroll down to the table.

Any country you lived in for 6 months or more since you were an adult.

Incorrect. 12 months.

Ryan is right. We sometimes confuse things. On the DS230 or DS260, you list all places you've lived for six months or more since turning age 16 but you only need a police report from another country if you lived there more than a year AND the police report is actually available. There are some countries where police reports are generally available to non-citizen former residents who are no longer living there.

Either way, the OP lived in Morocco more than 12 months, so needs to follow the instructions provided.

Where did you read that? In another post? 'cause I don't see anything about the OP living in Morocco for more than 12 months...

The thread has been split from the one where the OP indicated that.
