Finally Got GC, Wrong Birth Country

After almost ten months waiting I finally have my green card in hand. Except they got my birth country wrong. It says North Vietnam. When, 1) I was born in South Vietnam and, 2) There is no such thing as North or South Vietnam. It is all one country.

I went through a similar problem with my EAD/AP and it took over a month to fix. I have a trip coming up in less than a week and would really love to use my GC instead of AP to avoid the hassle but now I have to send the GC back to fix the birth country.

Am I just being too picky about this? Should I send it back to fix this? In technical terms, North Vietnam is still Vietnam. I'm not sure, it's just very bothersome that there would even be a difference.

as long as there no such thing as north or south, but still Vietnam, then I would just leave it alone.

I do not think it will represent any issues.

Hope someone else share what they think, just to make sure.

Yeah, I'm hoping someone else who may have had this problem can tell me how they dealt with it. Otherwise I'll call tomorrow and send the card back and deal with secondary screening on my trip. It's just an inconvenience, but a really needless one. I also doubt that since they didn't change anything when I got my EAD fixed for this exact same problem that they'll fix it for my future paperwork either.

Just leave it alone. The most important part is getting the green card.

Look at it this way. Everything is upside down from an Australian's point of view.

Your AP is now void because your AOS has been approved. You are a Legal Permanent Resident. Your GC is wrong, and it is their mistake. Make an INFOPASS appointment and get a I-551 stamps in your passport (serves as a GC). Send back the GC with no fee for replacement based on USCIS error. Travel freely on your I-551 stamp until the new corrected GC arrives.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

Thank you. I had no idea my AP is now void and unusable. I'll be making an INFOPASS appointment asap then.
