I'm sorry to hear you're going through this. There's not much you can do about AP, but maybe try writing a letter to the embassy and see if they are even working on your file. Make a real plea. It can't hurt. God bless and good luck.

I have written many letters and I get the same respond. I don't even think they read the letters, that's one of the frustration in this process. There is NOTHING you can do OR ANY UPDATE on this case.

the reason why your fiancé is under AP IS because he is somali, most, if not all male from such countries go through AP. BE patient.

His Eritrean not Somalia but I don't know if that makes a different. Initially at his second interview he received a rejection letter based on a not "Bona-Fide" relationship. The lady who interviewed him was a petite blonde lady, who also told him " you are only trying to get to the U.S, this is not a real relationship" in the 2 minutes she spent with him. I wrote a very long letter detailing the interview step by step to prove they did not even make any effort to see the supporting documents brought by my fiancé ( which was requested by them ) and requested the a respond of what was missing that would make a long distance relationship a Bona- Fide one. We received a response the next day that the case is now in AP. I can't seem to get anyone to talk to me or give me any information other than it's still pending AP.

We thought since the problem appears to be with our relationship, it may help by us getting married. We can also include all the trips I have taking since the initial application.

Thank you all for you honest opinion. We hang there this long because we thought no need to change they would do it again any ways, but how long is long? I have been looking for a job anywhere in Africa so I can just move there but that has not been possible. They literally have the power over our life, we can't make any kind of move until they make a decision. How can this be legal????????

Hang in there. The end result will make all of this work worthwhile.

You are not the first, and very likely not the last. There are many of us that have traveled visa journeys of our own.

How can this be legal? For some light reading, check out, "The Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952."

Good luck on your visa journey.

Completed: K1/K2 (271 days) - AOS/EAD/AP (134 days) - ROC (279 days)

Thank you, I will read but I still believe there should be an end date provided for the AP process. According to the email I receive ( same exact email each time) from them, "Administrative processing often lasts about 90 days, but in some instances, it can take significantly longer." is just NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Oh, they also include how they understand your frustration blah blah blah.....I don't even think they understand the pain nOt known can cause.

I know....there is nothing I can do, so today I am venting. Some days are just much harder than others. Thank you all for listening/ reading. The waiting is killing me..... :crying: :crying: :crying::crying: :crying: :crying:

Sorry to hear that, so I guess is just two of us from Nairobi in the same darkness. I just saw on your profile the last time you were update was last month and you mentioned that they said you are in internal AP. If I may ask, does that mean your case is with the embassy and not the DOS? Because with me all they say is under administrative process and even when I call dos they tell me the same thing, is there any different? And another thing were you approved upfront at the second interview or you were given the 221g form? With me I was approved and given the green form for approval bt they called me the next mrning saying that they have placed my case in AP, I don't understand why the co did approve me when he knew I will be placed in AP. Lets hope all be well.

I'm sorry to hear that. unfortunately all we know is that we are in AP, don't know where or how long. As you know, the respond is the same email regardless of how you Sk the question. I was told it's "internal" after calling the embassy several time and that was all I got.

First interview was giving 221g and requested more info.

Second interview was giving a rejection letter relationship "not Bona-Fide" was selected.

After an email was placed on AP.

I hope your AP is shorter since they initially Approved you. A confirmation of something within your record could be taking longer than expected. Call them and ask if you are in an "internal " AP, if you're not, I believe it's faster. Good luck!

Have you tried meeting in a third country where you both have passports/visas to travel? A friend of mine was in AP for almost 9 months, but they went to a Caribbean country and stayed there for several months while they waited.

Pleading doesn't do anything. The consulate has a job to do and they will not issue the visa until all checks are done and AP is complete. The very first thing they tell you when you get put in AP is that there is no way to expedite you just have to be patient and wait. Trust me I know first hand, I was at my husband's interview when he was put into AP.

"LonelyWithoutHim", I can understand your frustration and your lack of patience, BUT, I am going to have to agree with the majority of the posts on your thread. Starting your filing process over is going to be a 7-12month process. It's not worth it.

JUST THINK, you are already more than halfway through your waiting process. You've come this far. You're closer than you think.

I FEEL YOUR PAIN.

All the best,

Someone else who is sick of an electronic relationship (with my husband!)
