USCIS website and receipt numbers

Quick question to anyone.

I just tried checking the status of my case on the USCIS website and it stated that my case could not be found. I used the receipt number on my NOA1.

I've tried before using a receipt number from my biometrics appointment notice and had no trouble.

Are the receipt numbers on those two documents different? I'm at work. I carry my NOA1 with me, but my biometrics notice is at home. Of course I could just wait until I get home to check, but my curiosity is getting the better of me.

Yeah the NOA1 recept number doesn't work for us either...I guess you need the application # found at the top of the Bio appointment notice.

+1 NOA1 recp number is not working... it just says no case found.

Yes. The one from the NOA1 will not work.

Only the number on the biometrics notice can be used to track cases.

If you check the bottom of your NOA1, it should say:

Upon receipt of your ASC appointment notice, you can find the status of your case on-line at www.uscis.gov. To view the status of your case, enter the application number found at the top of the ASC appointment notice.

My NOA1 and ASC notice have different receipt numbers and only the ASC notice receipt number works to track our case.

Glad I dug a little deeper. DH still hasn't gotten his biometrics letter so we don't have that receipt number. The one on the NOA1 wasn't working so I was getting worried that it may be a reason for the biometrics letter not arriving yet. So I will patiently wait for DH's biometrics letter. If it isn't here by Thursday, I may give a call.
