Howdy all. After much research we found a reputable breeder and welcomed a new 4 legged furry human to our family. She is a 14 week old Siberian. We have named her Bosco. Yes its sort of a masculine name, but it is short for tobasco. Named after her reddish-orange with a dash of silver colorings, plus she is full of zip!! So far she has been a very sweet cat, a bit scraed still, which is expected when one is introduced to new surroundings. She is slowly coming out of the shyness shell and acting more like she did at her original home.

The reason why we went for a Siberian cat and not a rescue cat from a local shelter is that Siberians tend not to affect people that normally suffer from cat allergies, which my wife does. So far Meg hasn't had any problems, but kittens do not give off that much dander. Siberians still produce dander, but they produce much less than most cats, and their hair tends to be a tad bit oilier, but one can still get an allergic reaction to them. We went to a different breeder awhile back to test Megs allergies to the cats, and she did not have any problems around the adult cats. Siberians are a relatively new breed to N. America. They first came from Russia around 1990, so it can be hard to find a reputable breeder. There are breeders out there that are in it just for the $$$$, so like any purchase, ensure one does a lot of research and get references. And if possible save an animal from a rescue organization

I'm no animal expert, but ensure you buy high quality food for the animals. Higher quality food is not always that expensive. In many cases it is less expensive than the lower quality feed. Plus high quality food tends to make their stool smell less and more firm!! And it's just plan healthier for them. Vet bills add up!! We are using felidae cat food. http://www.canidae.com/ Human grade ingredients and no fillers. There are many other high quality feed out there, so take your time do your research (google) and find one that your cat/dog will eat, they will thank you for it for many yrs to come. Cheers, Scott

Yes, she look slike a cat!! Many various breeds of cat look similar but have different traits. We are very pleased.

hehehe....I remember Bosco.....made some darn good chocolate milk! Cute kittie Scott....Joel and I are looking for a kittie when he gets here too. Currently he has a Maine #######....she's gorgeous but too old in kittie years to make the trip. So, I guess we'll be looking for one like her when he gets here.
