K1 Petition - Delays in Processing

To clarify, since this comes up quite often, the Texas Service Center is not the same as the Dallas Lockbox where the I-129F petition and supporting materials are to be mailed. The TSC handles different types of petitions, but no longer the I-129F. The Dallas Lockbox simply processes payments and then forwards your files to the appropriate Service Center -- either California or Vermont.

In this waiting time there is much you the beneficiary can get working on. Become very familiar with the paperwork as there is still much to gather. Get you vaccinations done as there are some that are given in 3 shots spanning 6 months. I went through all this last year to be denied. But we are on the right track this time. Your RCMP police certificate is good for 1 year. I had to get another done because I can't see us being past that stage by June 8. Start making a file for your medical, your interview, and I have even started the researching for AOS. Which area are you in? I'm Victoria, BC so I will go to Woking Clinic in Vancouver as well as the interview taking place there. Interview times for Vancouver are much faster than Montreal. I have even set up my account for when the time comes to book my interview date. When we get the chance I'm hitting the road running...lolol

good luck with your journey.

Hi Terry,

Thank you! I have been busy gathering all kinds of paperwork. I am going to leave the police check and the information for the I-134 until after I receive NOA2. I am working on the immunization records now... but not quite sure which immunizations are needed for myself and my children except the usual?

Can I ask you - in your signature you have "February 27, 2012 - touched for new petition, so that felt better.. "

What does "touched" mean?

Thanks,

Kim

Touch: When the UCSIS "Touches" your petition or file it means that an action was taken which required your file to be physically touched or moved. Example: Your file is touched when it is given to an adjudicator to process.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to it. Some people are approved with no updates at all.

The timeline I am looking at is the USCIS website:

Effective Jan 31, 2012.

Also, Visa Journey has updated my possible judication dates from May - June to July - Sept... :(

Could be possibly because of this Syrian Temporary Protection Status?

Texas22, I am also a January filer and my fiance and I have everything done for the Packet 3. He has his medical scheduled already for Mid May, (in Ireland they will schedule your medical without a case number) He is getting his police certs this week and I have given him all of my financial info and the affidavit of support (signed and dated for late May) None of that info is going to change between now and his interview... We figure, this way he send the embassy his notice of readiness right after he gets his Packet 3.

Good luck to you! :)

Also, check out the link for the other January Filers... We try to keep each other up to date on what is going on at VSC...

The Lockbox in Texas is where all I-129F petitions are sent, then they reroute them either to California or Vermont, usually by the state where the petitioner lives. :)

I did not know this information. I have been freaking out about my Moroccan I129F application as the Texas Service Center says a horrific waiting time while VJ posts my expected time of projected interview as much sooner. So, TX just takes in all the apps and will send mine back to California where I live? I can't stand the wait, just like all of us, I know. I check every single day like a dork and am so disappointed to hear nothing. But April 2 was my NOA1...so I know I must do my yoga and practice PATIENCE. Am I now overstanding you correctly?

All K1 visas are processed at VSC or the CSC. If you just got your NOA1 in April you have some waiting time ahead of you... take a deep breath and start educating yourself on the next phase... Change your processing center to the center on your NOA1 and update your timeline. If you check the following list you can see who if being approved at the CSC at this time... Good luck to you.

Kim, I waited to get my medical done 2 weeks before my interview. Dr Seiden's office in TO will usually have the results ready 2 days after available for pick up. The I-134 we did on April 11th (interview was on the 25th). The police certificate I did in the middle of March (you will need this for AOS and it is valid for a year). My immunizations were done in February and in March. You should call the Dr's office where you will be having your medical done as you may not be required to have all immunizations done depending on your age.

Once you receive the NOA2, you can start calling DOS and see where you are in terms of packet 3. I found calling DOS very helpful and it gave me a timeline to work with to give me an idea of what paperwork to start gathering.

Don't stress. The interview is the easiest part. You should also check the Canada forum as it is really helpful.

Cheers

Moe

eaglewest,

When I read your post I thought perhaps I was going nuts, so I went back to check again this morning.. and I got the same thing as I did yesterday, with an effective date of Feb 29, 2012. I have attached a screenshot below.

So I'm completely confused by the accuracy of the information.

Hi Moe,

Thanks for the info.. I find the Canadian forum very helpful too! :)

I have printed off the list for Packet 3 requirements.

I have started to gather everything needed. (in an accordian file all neat and filed properly - ready and waiting)

So far I have:

- mine and kids updated passports

- mine and kids long form birth certificates - (certified copies)

- previous marriage certificates

- previous divorce certificates

- my custody order already in place showing I have sole custody and the kids father had agreed to the move - with visitation

and child support agreed upon and in the court order.

- continually collecting skype logs, phone bills, photos and boarding passes from when we have been able to visit since filing the petition.

Still need to collect:

- police certificate

- immunizations for the kids and I - got info from Dr. Seiden's website and going to family doctor next week to get started on those to see exactly what is needed.

- passport photos (is it 3 or 5 of each?)

- DS-230

- DS-156

- DS-156K

Once I have an interview date I will get my fiance to send me:

- photocopy of his passport biographic page

- affidavit of support I134

- letter of intent to marry

I'm still not quite sure what they mean by "Evidence of domicile in the United States". And I am a little concerned because when we received our NOA1 it shows that the I-129F petition for alien fiance has been received and it lists my name only, even though my fiance included my children in his petition for K2's.

I have paperwork X 3 because my young children are moving with me... it's a lot to deal with sometimes, but I'm a stickler for being prepared. I feel like the wait time is long enough without it being held up because we are waiting for stuff we could have collected while waiting...

Is this totally :ot: ??

LOL...I know about being a stickler. Evidence of domicile is proof of address where your fiancee lives in the US. I took a copy of my fiancees drivers license, a current utility bill and a copy of his lease. Funny because I was not asked for any of this but had it just in case.

I sent my Package 3 into the consulate as soon as I received my NOA2 and then called DOS every day after I sent it to see if it was logged in the system and as soon as it was, I started trying to schedule my appointment.

You will also have to file the DS160 before you send Package 3. This will have to go into the package.

Photos were I think 3 for the medical. I went to Blacks in the Eaton Centre to get my pics done and got them to put the pics on a disc. I was able to print off extra pics at home if I needed them.

Double check the consulates website for Package 3 instructions so you have everything.
