when you get your NOA2 or approval, USCIS sends the case to the NVC(NATIONAL VISA CENTER) they assign you with a case number, invoice identification number and beneficiary number. then you have to make some payments AOS I-846 which is done by your spouse. & IV. you have to send in your choice of agent also which is DS3032, YOU have to send in your DS-230 which is after you pay your IV bill. after this you send your ds-230 to the NVC. they give you case complete. and then you wait for an interview date. now its taking up to 20 days to get a case number, so you are looking at a 1 an a half- 2 month process again. and then Interview takes sum time also. goodluck :star:

When you say that your i-130 was approved do you mean that it was accepted by USCIS? I am so confused. I sent in my I-130 along with our i-129 to USCIS and both have been accepted but I am not wether or not they have been approved?

i'm sticking with the 'I-130' label, that's harder to mistype than to choose the drop drop down.

OP - find the NVC April 2012 thread. [there's a link for that :) ]

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Welcome to VJ!

Your profile says K1 (fiance visa), but the I-130 leads to the CR-1 spousal visa. You posted in the K3 visa forum, which is a obsolete visa. If you can fill in your timeline and clarify your visa choice, we can help you more.

What I received was the I-797c, notice of action. The case type i-130 and there is a receipt number. Is that an approval?

there are three types of I-797-C formletters.

If you received this within 30 days of sending off the I-130,

and this is the FIRST formletter you got,

then no, it's just the receipt notice.

Have a look, read some more ?

An approval notice contains the words "we have approved this petition" in the body of the message.

You'll receive two notice of action letters (NOA1 and NOA2).

NOA1 is a receipt that they've received your petitions. NOA2 is the letter you get once the petition is approved.

NOA1 will say "We have received this petition...."

NOA2 will say "We have approved this petition...."

You can actually receive an unlimited number of notices of action, including multiple requests for evidence or a denial notice, in addition to the two mentioned above. Ideally, you will receive only those two.

Thank you very much. Your feedback was helpful. I guess at this point we are just waiting. I have to say waiting is horrible. According to all the timelines i have read it should be about five months for NOA2 and it has been 4 mos since NOA1 so not too much longer I hope.
