Hmm...I (the petitioner) am 19, and my fiance is turning 19 in 1 month. We met online when we were 16. Will this be a problem? Sorry for asking in your thread, OP! but your question made me have doubts. I hope they don't look at us as too young. Does "underage" even count if we are both the same age?

no, this would not seem bad or underage as there is no age difference even if you both had sex at 16, or 14 for that matter. it is more due to legality of having sex. typically even for statutory rape, it is sex with a minor if you are older than 21... or more than 3 years older, or some stipulation like this. ie, 17 and 19 year old is ok, but 17 and 22 year old is not ok for sex, it is rape. Warning: check your local laws...

@juanandcami so cool that ur girlfriend is from Uruguay! :)

I'm the girlfriend! hahah my fiance, the male, is from Uruguay

We met on an online game so I'm worried they might think we are childish.

It's great how you guys met through an online negotiation. It's the serendipity of life. :)

L+T, thank you! knowing that makes me feel much more at ease.

**** One post removed for TOS violation: "Condone or instruct, either directly or indirectly, others on how to commit fraudulent or illegal immigration activities in any way, shape, manner or method.". There is a big difference between not giving too much information and outright lying to immigration. Never lie ****

I just wish i could maker her to come to live with me here in Argentina, or to anywhere in Europe since i'm an european citizen too, i hate this process,is way too stressful, and energy draining, especially for person with high levels of anxiety like myself.... but her parents wants her to get her university education in the US...

Depending on which country, spousal visas to Europe are just as difficult. Trust me. I've tried to get my wife here.

However, legal age in most of Europe is 16 so you might not have a problem on that end.

No, I doubt it. You're both fully legal to marry, and you're close in age. The OP is 27 and his fiance is 18.. Meaning she was underage when he was 26, but both of you were underage at the same time. Don't worry.

I don't think there will be any problem.
Amigo, no one here can say that, and no one here has any business saying that.
Also your age difference isn't that huge, my wife and I are 13 years apart (she's older than me) and that never even came up at the consulate in BA during our interview.
Buenos Aires is hardly known as a tough consulate. There's a bigger difference between being 13 years apart in age if you're 29 and she's 16 than, for example, if you're 39 and she's 26. The younger the couple is, the greater the disparity in many areas of life.

I reiterate that the OP should take every measure to fend off the "minor" business BEFORE it blows up in his face.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Immigration could have reservations about the age gap, but there's lots of 80 year old guys marrying 20 year old filipinos

Were you just exaggerating, or are you jealous...

Maybe you could give us some examples of members here on VJ that fall into that category??? Please?

:ot2:
