Congratulations. That does give me hope, and I do envy you. I wish I could file under the DCF. But sadly I work in another foreign country than where my fiance is living. But I am just working here until she is able to come to the US

You know it's not luck. It does matter.

The problem is you filed just before the new "USC living abroad" queue was created, and I'm really sorry for you about that. :(

But the truth is that yes, these cases now are approved in 2 weeks max.

EDIT: actually I'm thinking about another possibility: DCF still exists in the UK, right? Then maybe USCs who live in a country where DCF is still an option don't get to be put in the fast queue. Just an idea, I'll need to look into it.

Hi Laurie & Collin, I would like to know what is that the USC living abroad? because we filed while Robert is living in USA but due to the time it's going to take he wants to come to Argentina to live for several months. Is there a better process time for USC living abroad?

I will appreciate your answer, thanks a lot

Alejandra

In the last few months, starting in September/October, and following the change of procedure in August which ended DCF in most countries in the world, cases with the USC living abroad with their spouse have been adjudicated extremely fast, in a couple of weeks for most of them. For a few members, it seems like it didn't work (whether it is due to them giving their US address on all forms is unknown), but the vast majority of us was obviously processed as soon as the file was received.

If you have already filed, I doubt there is any way to have them change the queue your file is in.

Would you say that it's happening extremely fast in China, as well? Over the last few days of obsessive reading of VJ posts (thank you, fellow posters!) it's looking more and more to me like DCF is the best & quickest way to go for us (we live in China and will be (hopefully) having an interview in Guangzhou after we file the I-130 in Beijing later this month.) But, I still have no real good idea of how long we will have to wait for the I-130 to be approved (much less how long will have to wait for a visa interview)...can anyone tell me about their recent DCF experience in China? BTW, my husband is a Turkish national so if you did also apply/petition for a third-country national, that would just be icing on the cake...

What I was talking about is not DCF. These petitions (like mine) are filed through the Chicago lockbox.

You should probably ask in the regional sub-forum for China, I'm sure you'll get more information about DCF.

USCIS call center agents have absolutely no idea what's going on. If you don't believe it just look for yourself. You'll end up confirming that all the members who were approved at CSC in less than a month without requesting expedite are USCs living abroad with their spouse.

Edit: seeing your timeline, I'm thinking it's possible that filing an I-129F caused your file to be taken from that queue and placed in another K3 queue. There's no way to know for sure but it's plausible.

Ugh! That does make perfect sense, but I am so frustrated with the incompetence of the USCIS agents with whom I speak to on the phone, all saying that they process all forms in the order they were received, no USC living abroad queue, blah blah blah...

well...we'll see from here. Thanks for the imput.

They do process the petitions from USC living abroad for 6 months or more and those petitions are processed a lot faster than normal ones. This process is known as Direct Consular Filing (DCF).

DCF is only available in countries that have a USCIS field office in the country. If there is no USCIS field office in a country that a petitioner is living in, the the petitioner will have to send the petition to the lockbox in Chicago. For petitioners who are in the situation of having to send their petitions to the lockbox from abroad (and this is regardless of how long they have resided abroad) and they use their foreign address on the I-130, then it appears USCIS is adjudication these petitions quicker than normal.
