New Medical Requirement for AOS in 2012??

The licence is turned INTO the certificate in those situations usually. Basically photocopies the licence onto the marriage cert paper, registrar does his thing, stamps it and it's done.

Ours was never 'basically photocopied onto the marriage certificate paper'. The original Marriage License was signed by the officiant, stamped by the county clerk's office and it was this exact same piece of paper that was returned to us a month later in the post. We had certified copies of this made the day we were married as back-ups incase we needed them. Nowhere on it does it say the words 'Marriage Certificate'.

I married in the county south of you so have the same TX marriage requirements. The endorsement and county seal showing it was recorded in the county vital records is what makes it the certificate...it had been certified by the county clerk.(certified.... certificate??) Did you get it done that way? Had you not taken it back to the county, it would have been a license that was void after 30 days. Surprised NVC didn't "get it". What a bother.

Some good news for ya--Harris County got some new fancy certificate paper and you can get one of the new ones. See it here http://www.cclerk.hc...nformation.aspx

Each county picks their own design. Bexar County does lovely colored ones.

Yes it was stamped by the county clerk. I was just pointing out that we were never sent anything new after the marriage that says the word 'certificate' on it. Most places issue a marriage license, it is signed by the officiant, filed with the county clerk, and then they are sent a ' Marriage Certificate' ie not the original license.

What we received back about a month later (and what we had certified copies made of the day we were married) was the original Marriage 'License' that was signed by the judge that married us, which had been stamped by the county clerk's office. Nowhere on it does it say the word 'Certificate', which I believe is what the NVC had a problem with. I was also questioned by the CO at interview about this. He asked where our Marriage 'Certificate' was as what he had said 'License'. He had to ask another CO if it looked like a valid document from Texas, and she confirmed that it was.

I didn't know that Harris County had new certificates, so thanks for that! Looks like the new ones may have caused us less drama as they clearly say 'Marriage License Certificate' lol!!

I believe your RFE will probably be for the I-864. The immunisations as well MAYBE but I definitely think the I-864.

Well, you guess it, you were right! I got my RFE today, and yep, it's asking for proof of the co-sponsor's citizenship or LPR status.

NOTHING to do with the medical, crikey!

Who's for a beer? My shout :innocent: :innocent: :innocent:

Phew, that's an easy one

Gah, wow, Stone the crows, and in reading the I-864 is clearly states I must include proof.. gosh, what a flamin' galah :bonk: :bonk:

I do have a question then, the RFE does not state I need to submit IRS tax information, but considering I have them now ready to go, would it hurt to include them? I know it doesn't ask for it, and I don't want to be disobedient to the instructions and include something that's not asked for, but would it avoid another RFE possibly? Or do you think considering this is related to the I-864, they would have probably asked for it by now?

Hmmmm...

I wouldn't bother with the IRS stuff if they didn't ask for it. Just keep them if you get an interview.

For the FIL's proof of citizenship you can send a copy of his birth cert (or naturalisation certificate), or a copy of his passport (ALL pages :S). Personally birth cert seems easiest :D

And the moral to this story is "Don't try to fix your RFE until you see it in writing."

Good call Vanessa.

Haha, yeah, alright I'll admit it I don't ever use or ever hear anyone OTHER than Alf Stewart say that.. just diggin' it for the Aussies :D :D

No problem with the birth certificate, my FIL doesn't actually have a passport, and he was born in Montana, so getting a birth certificate will be easy, my wife had to get one for the K-1 and county records is two blocks from here, and they do it on the spot.

He's going to take a ride there on Monday and get a certified copy, I don't even want to risk it being a photocopy considering how EASY it was to get one!

Yeah also since I wrote that I came to the same concusion, I shouldn't send the IRS stuff, if they don't ask for it, don't fix something that aint broken, works for me

Thanks guys, onwards and upwards... no one took me up on the beer offer, shame B-) B-)

Don't need all the pages of the US passport. Instructions say you can just use the bio page as proof. Much easier than copying all the pages front to back.

Really? I stand corrected then. I recall something requires all pages and even specifies "even if blank".

Yes, you have to copy them all if sending in place of a birth certificate for the I-129F. The I-864 instructions just say the biographical page. Not sure why one needs them all and the other doesn't when both are being used to establish US citizenship, but hey, it saves people time, paper and ink that way. :D

It's okay, he doesn't have a passport so he's going today to get a birth certificate done from county records, just cancelled my medical too.

Interesting reading your comments RE: Copy of passport.. weird!

Thanks again
