What a wonderful compilation!

I'm new at this so, forgive me if I sound stupid but, what if you don't have a lawyer and you are doing the paperwork yourself? In DS-3032, what do I do? And it sounds like it but I need a confirmation. When we get bills like AOS ($88?), and IV(???) do you pay online?

Well, for the bolded parts (since yer here on a DIY immigration web portal)

Ya log in from a PC, and READ the content of all the links on post #1 in this topic. Once you find LingChe - read it 5 or 6 times, making notes, pencil to paper, downloading the forms you need, mapping out a calendar with timeticks and timelines for getting things done.

Good Luck ! I'm a fan of blue crayon on big greenbar computer paper - I make a set of steps and a flowchart once or twice every two months. You should, as well.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Anyone getting an error message when trying to log into the Payment Portal?

"Database Error

You have encountered the database error. Please try again later."

It was working fine last night, and now I've been getting this message for a couple hours. I want to see if we've been invoiced, dangit !

* DS-261 website is down as well. Balls. Nevermind, links are just being funny.

And Saylin, another amazing, informative thread :D What's the deal with the photocopies for the IV package? I assume this doesn't apply for EP.

Don't worry about the database error. NVC was closed today due to outages, and I'm betting that's why you're getting the message.

And yeah, obviously, for EP cases, they're getting copies of our certificates, so no need to send two scans of each certificate. Just make sure you bring the original/certified copies to the interview.

Now I'm concerned. Trying to log into the site to submit DS-261 and I get this:

Don't worry. I got that message when I just got my case number as well. Give it a day or two, and then you should be able to log in and submit the DS-261.

I figured it could do something with their shutdown and/or my case being so new. Just weird though because I could log into the payment portal last night without issue. Ah well, if both websites are still acting up tomorrow I'll give them a call... if they're open.

I'm curious to know if you could send additional evidence substantiating your relationship once it arrives at NVC or should you only send the information/forms they request?

You could with the IV package. For China cases, members do this to front-load their application for when it arrives at GUZ.

We usually do it at USCIS time though. As far as I know most GUZ people don't submit extra evidence at DS-230 time, though some do.

Only what they ask for, as far as I know. Pretty sure you can bring extra stuff to your interview though.

Ironically, at the posts where you would most need such extra evidence they are the least likely to review it at interview time. :(

Well, yeah, most people include the bulk of evidence at USCIS. But I've seen many China cases that send in more proof as well with the IV package.

This is actually a good sign that your first fee is being invoiced. It will probably be available to pay next time you can log in!

foobaz, can you use GZO case number for the NVC AVR? I tried it which only seems to take GUZ case #.

It takes me about 1 week (5 working days) to get the IV bill invoice. I sent out EP with DS-3032 on 2/22 and got the IV invoice yesterday. NVCInquiry sends me duplicate emails for that (don't know why). And I received a "False" Checklist Cover Letter from NVCInquiry. I assume it is "False" since it only asks me to make the IV bill payment which I only got about a few hours before.

The GZO number will not work on the AVR, however, if you input the GUZ number, it will give you an update, even after you have converted to EP. It was from the AVR that I found out I was going to get a checklist.

I was reading up on "Documents the Applicant must Submit to the NVC" on Travel.State.Gov and it says:

So I clicked on the "Reciprocity by Country Page" found Mexico, and under "Police Records" it says, "UNAVAILABLE."

Am I to assume that this means I don't have to submit a police record to NVC?

That's correct, if a certain document in a certain country is not available, then the applicant would not be required to submit it to the NVC.
