Red Alert -- Guides Correction Needed

A flaw in the English language is the lack of a gender-neutral third-person-singular pronoun, sigh man.

Not only English. In the Romanic Languages, and their derivatives, for example, there are few, if any gender neutral nouns and pronouns. Change the gender, and you change the meaning of the word.

It, one, to name two. He is still grammatically correct, although not politically correct, when both genders are included, or ambiguous.

Well, I have. The couple needed to provide the unredacted version before a visa would be issued. The CO said it looked like they were discussing how to commit fraud. My recommendation is that if something needs to be redacted in some correspondence or document, don't use the document at all. Choose another one. I also agree with the admonition to avoid calling your unmarried fiance any name one would use to mean spouse. That one, I've seen lots more problems with.

This is a discussion that is needed in the sub forums only. I know in Vietnam that they do get redacted versions often with no harm. In your sub forum it may be different. By using one narrow view of one sub forum to the whole site may be causing harm. Each and every country has their norms. If anything let it be known that they need to find more info in the sub forum. There is no way anyone should divulge any info they don't want to. The couples could be having a very intimate conversation. That is inappropriate for anyone, even a CO to read. It is probably best to not ever say wife or husband if one is going through the K-1 but that should be up to the couples. In Vietnam it is normal to address ones Fiancee this way. Again it is a sub forum function not a site wide view. Even in the sub forums it can be divisive yet alone the whole site.

T-bone knows how to edit, indeed. Now I just need someone to edit what I'm working on...
This is a high compliment, especially from such a wise and level-headed member, HT man, and in light of my mortification that the final sentence of the edited screed was a run-on even more than this one, gulp man, but not bad for 3 a.m. while composing on the fly, no man.

Q: What is Mozart doing right now?

A: Decomposing, si man.

Seriously for a fleeting moment (gasp, choke): We do edit in our professional life, si man, but we don't overtly or even covertly solicit business on VJ or even hint about it, no man, for it would be in violation of the TOS, see man. Wise, level-headed members would certainly see that, man.

And now it is high time to hit the hay, zzz man.

Agree that redacted versions in Australia are also no issue. Husband and wife when applying for a K1 are of course bad.

I like bolding for emphasis.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
