Have you turned on the heat yet?

I would never feel right doing that to my husbands mother let alone my own parents! A sweater can only do so much, but whe you are chilled to the bones its just way to much.

What will you do when you are elderly and you live with your kids, and they have control over the heat?

'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO, What a Ride'

lol they're not chilled to the bones. They're just whining, they're the whiny type. They're in sweaters now and appear to be happily watching TV.

It's Oct 2nd for God sake. I don't think anyone here lives at the North Pole or Antarctica.

 I can't stand the heater, it gets me all congested. I usually turn it on when the thermostat in my house is below 55 and I can't take it anymore. However I can't under any circumstances sleep with it running. I have to turn it off and wear sweats, socks, lots of blankets. Same with the A/C, if the thermostat in my house goes above 78 then I will turn it on and I only leave it on long enough to cool the house down. I definitly prefer open windows and fresh air.

Wow you guys turn on the A/C when it's 78 out? 78 is nice weather, open a window and turn on a fan. Unless ya'll are made of money :P

I agree. And I love the crispness of autumn-cool air. Flannel shirts and sweaters and down comforters are made for this sort of weather. Besides, fresh air helps me breathe.

In Morocco, I didn't have air-conditioning in my house and the temps got up to 130 degrees indoors I think I have developed a thick (thin?) skin.

Sometimes in Florida if it's 78 outside it still can be very humid so the a/c keeps the air flowing and dry in the house. If it really was 78 out, I just might run the air occasionally to keep the house dry inside. But it's been 89-90 here so it's not nice enough to open the windows anyway.

Well seeing as the high today here was 93, the AC is still on! ;) I can't wait to turn on the heater for that one day of winter we get here in San Antonio! I think it was on a Tuesday last year!

Hell no, what am I made of money or something.

I have all the windows open and told my inlaws who aren't used to the cold at all to put their sweaters on.

ETA: It is 56 out right now, going down to 51 tonight. Very pleasant!

Have you heard of hypothermia?

have you heard how cold it would have to be to get hypothermia? 51degrees is no where near that, and quite nice to have the window open for the cool air ..

unless the wife is from Ecuador and is cold at anything below 80. :P:lol::lol:

Or the Philippines and it's below 70, but anything over 75 is hot, so she has a 5 degree comfort range that I think has been reached 3 days since she go here in 2002. LOL
