Hi,

Yesterday my wife and I had a very bad experience at the American Consulate.

We are moving to the US, were I have a splendid job and a great income. Our son was REJECTED because he is 21 yrs. old !!!!!

How can they do that? Why tearing a family apart just because our son is 21 yrs old??

My 21 yrs old son is studying for Manager Hotel & Catering Entrepeneur and we wanted him to finisch school here and then come to live with us, but US goverment make it impossible. They did break my wife's heart and also mine. My son depends financialy for 100% on me as a father, so I really don't know why they do this to us.

Friends said my son has more chance to enter illegally into the US, than legally.

We respect the law, but this is inhuman to split a family, just because of the son's age. A decent hard stuying boy, never trouble and his dream is to join the Marines. Is this America the land who makes your dreams comes true?

Does US Goverment know how hard it is for a mother and a father to go after their dream and leave ther only son behind???

Manuel

No to sound mean, but you do not have to move to the USA. Sometimes in life we have to make hard choices. You have the choice to chase your dream and move to America or stay in your country and not split your family apart. The US government has nothing to do with your decision. If you move to the US, it is your choice to split the family not the US government.

Your son is over the age of being a "child". He is an adult. If he relies on your for financial support that's fine, you just send him money to support him, or you can't move. Sorry but immigration isn't always easy.

Sorry for your situation but Mountain Climber is absolutely right.

Your son is 21 years old, he is legally an adult and not a minor, therefore he does not qualify for immigration benefit from your L-1 work visa.

The U.S. government doesn't split up your family. It's not their choice, .They are not doing this specific to you, it's their immigration laws. You don't have to follow their laws and move to the US if you don't like it.

Life is full of tough choices. it is a hard choice but it is still yours to make.

In Denmark, the age limit is 18 years old. I moved and grew up here in the last 10 years. My mom couldn't petition for my sister because she was over 18 at that time. So our family had to split too, it happens all the time.

You have an important decision to make. I hope you figure this out one way or another.

A 21 years old is a man and not a child. I've been living on my own since I was 18 years old.

The US is not tearing your family apart. Immigration is a choice. You and your wife are choosing to come to the US. US law does not allow you to bring your son because he is legally an adult. Under the laws of your country, he has probably been an adult for several years now.

If you don't want to tear your family apart, then don't come to the US. You, your wife, and your adult child can all live in the same country.
