You are correct. Only the petitioner's birth certificate is sent with the I-129F petition. The beneficiary will not need to show their birth certificate until the K-1 interview.

I didn't send my birth certificate at all - just a copy of my passport. At worst you case is delayed slightly for a RFE - not a big deal.

We didnt send the back either, because the seal was at the front. And in regards to reading the instructions, please do not make judgemental comments about others in this forum. The thing is, as an internatonal traveller, I realize that countries, states and birth certificates are different. Therefore, we felt confident that since there was nothing at the back, this did not apply to us. In some countries they differ between short and long versions, too.

We also included a copy of his passport and a copy of his social security card. Now, I do not know whether we will recieve an RFE for this, however, I completely understand why people, including myself, haven't included this. I mean, it doesn't state "for people with only one page, please copy the blank back side, too". Nothing else to do than just wait and see.. and pray! :)

PS. how will they know whether I copied the back? I mean, the back of the birth certificate paper that I included is blank as well! maybe I copied the blank back side on the back of the copy of the birthcertificate. I really do not see this being an issue, but if any body had problems with this before, please share!

The point is that they want to see it for themselves. As I mentioned, in some countries, they add notes to the back side (regarding previous marriages, divorces, etc.) and USCIS isn't going to take your word for it that the back is blank.

How do they know you photocopied the back page if you just send a blank piece of paper? It could be a photocopy of any blank piece of paper!

My "blank" back page showed the fold lines and the shadows of the raised official seal (in reverse). Blank may be void of any written info but can still show evidence of being the reverse side of the document.

Me and my fiance putting together the I-129f. We have her birth certificate ready to photo copy but the I-129f instructions state you need the front and back. Her birth certificate is just 1 page, the front has all the details and the back is just blank. Is she missing something????

Mine's blank on the back but I sent them a copy of that anyways

haha ... yes or it could just be a blank piece of paper... not a copy of anything.

This has come up before... if the back of your birth certificate is blank, then by only copying the printed side (which is blank on the back) it is a true copy of your certificate ..

If it has something printed on the back you would need a copy of both sides... some have a code number or stamp.

K1 guide says in the I-129F instructions that you need to provide proof of legal name change... so the beneficiary's birth certificate would need to be included in that instance where the name had been changed by marriage/subsequent divorce or other reason for name change wouldn't it?

Yes, you are correct. In that instance you would need to send in those translated documents for the beneficiary. Wasn't thinking about that when I responded before.
