Sajidla my husband also got a 221g paper saying mandatory AP and they gave us back all our documents and kept only his passport. I'm not an expert on AP but I've researched a great deal. When they keep the documents it seems they want to verify something in them. Can we also add your name and date of interview along with your pending AP to our tracker?

Hi everyone, I have been a silent reader of this thread. I did not post anything because I have very frustrated that my fiance was placed on administrative processing following his K1 interview in Islamabad last November. Today I called DOS and even though I have some good news (inshallah), I also must vent even if it is in the middle of the work day!

Good news: 2 out of the 3 visa specialists I spoke with today told me that the visa was issued today. As it was late at night, I wasn't able to reach my fiance so I don't know if the embassy/courier service reached out to him yet or not.

---

Now the vent:

Since the interview, I had been calling DOS on a weekly basis, usually only once a week. The last couple of weeks I was calling twice a week because my family is visiting Pakistan & I was hoping my fiance would be able to travel with them to the US.

I called last Friday and the visa specialist (VS) told me to call back on Tuesday (today). This was the first time that DOS had ever told me to call back on a specific day -- usually they just say to call back next week. So I called this morning and the VS told me that the visa was issued on Jan. 3rd. He didn't ask me for my fiance's name or other info. I assumed this was because I have spoken to this particular VS in the past and he probably recognized my case. Of course, I got excited and texted my fiance immediately. Then, I remembered people on VJ posting that DOS can sometimes give out wrong information. I also did a search on VJ and people mentioned asking DOJ if the visa was printed.

So during my lunch break, I called DOS again. This time, a VS told me the case is still being completed and the visa has not been issued. :( I should have pressed her more but she wouldn't say anything beyond that. I waited a few minutes and decided to call back, if only to tell DOS that they shouldn't be giving inconsistent information. I got another VS. She also told me that it is still in administrative processing but they are working on it and "it looks very good." I told her that earlier, another VS had said the visa was issued. She said she would look and after a few minutes, asked me for my fiance's passport number. I gave it to her and she then said "yes, it looks like it was issued." I then asked if this meant the visa was printed and available for pickup.

She then proceeded to get very angry with me. I am so upset that I think I blocked out some of her comments. Something about calling 6 or 7 or 8 times a day and how they don't have different information and if it says issued, that's what they're telling me. I tried to say I had been given inconsistent info and she said the 6 or 7 times comment to me. I then told her I'm sorry she's upset but my family is visiting Pakistan and I was hoping my fiance could fly back with them. She then hung up.

---

I have never called DOS multiple times in a day until today. In all of my past calls, I have never gotten upset, angry, cried, etc. I would just ask the status and once they said AP, I would hang up. I didn't want to do anything that might prolong the AP. I never emailed or called the embassy during the AP. I certainly did not expect the reaction of this particular VS and although I am optimistic that inshallah my fiance's visa will be in his hands sometime in January, I am dismayed by that last phone call. In the grand scheme of things, it probably seems like a small deal and at least it came with some hope for good news soon. I just didn't need that today.

EAbbas: I heard similar things in at least one of my calls today to DOS ("still pending" & "its a good sign"). Maybe we spoke to the same rep. I don't want to give false hope but I have a feeling your AP is coming to a close and will be over soon inshallah.

Once my fiance gets his visa, I'll post my details so you can add them to the tracker.
