NOA2 Lost in the Mail. $400+ to get a copy?

To all VJ members,

I was told to send a form I-824 a month after my approval if I didnt recieve my NOA2 yet in the mail. So I said.. OK fine.. Ill do it and only to see that the filing fee for I-824 is $405... OMG! Am I seeing what I see? To get a Copy of a document that was lost in the mail and never was our fault is $405?

Pls help me if there's other way to get this. This is just rediculous. I need it coz as what I've read, NOA2 is need on AOS.

Yes what you are seeing is correct. Unless you can prove it was lost and not your fault and get USCIS to send another one ( they usually only do it if they got the letter sent back to them )

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

Thank you... Our petition was approved last November 14, 2011 and was trying to fill up the form as what USCIS suggested as almost a month has passed but when I saw the filing fee.. it freaked me out.. :( Do you think that they would not consider this as lost? it's just been a month and I asked for a copy because I didnt recieve anything :( What if it was just lost and never came back to them? I need to pay $405?

I hope they will consider me telling the truth about the lost of my NOA2 in the mail as it's just been a month since my approval. :)

we have the same problem, our petition was approved last 11/16/2011 but until now we haven't receive the NOA2. i ask my fiance to call the uscis today to follow it up. how bout u? did you try calling them? what did they say to you?

Yes.. I did call and i felt better today as they said.. we need to call back after 30 days... and they will check if it came back to them.. if if came back, they would resend it.. if not, I hope they will still resend it and spare us from filing I-824 which is a hefty $405 .. :( I need to call on Dec 15 as what she suggested... your fiance might call on December 17.. :)

Your other option is to send a copy of the NVC letter (that has the home country file number on it) instead of the NOA2.

Back when we got approved our first copy never made it. We were having issues in the area with mail box thefts. I called and explained and offered to send the article about the local issue and they mailed a copy for free to a PO box I opened to stop the problem.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.
