Five Month Deadline Come and Gone - What Next?

Assuming I don't get my NOA2 today, they will have gone over their 5 month period on Saturday. Before I call them next week, I would like to know anyone's experience, good or bad, when calling the uscis customer service center to get more information when the 5-month goal is exceeded. Has anyone been successful in getting an update, and if so, what kind? Or does it depend on what operator you get? Totally useless? Will they let the investigator or arbitrator or someone at csc talk to me? I'd love to know the range of possible outcomes before I call.

I would have thought my case was fairly typical. Foreign wife with young son, neither of us has a criminal record, good documentation. Met in January 2011, married June 3, NOA1 I-130 June 27. Since filing I've been to see her twice, visited Rome, lived with her in her flat with her son for a week, which I just got back from yesterday. Going back at Christmas for 2 weeks. If they want more proof I've got the proof, but to take more than 5 months? Sheesh.

Our NOA 1 is the same date and we both at CSC .Just like you i am still waiting..I called on Wednesday and they told me to they cannot do anything until Nov.27th which is a sunday.I guesss i will be blowing their phones off first thing on Monday morning

Sent in 1-130 in March,NOA-1 on March 26th.Nothing for 5 months,called in they said call back when it`s 5 months and 30 days out of processing...we did...they put in a service request to inquire...we got a letter stating that they are doing an additional background check in a week after request...was saying can take up to another 6 months..however in another week got a RFE on 3 pages(not specific for us,standard for everyone)...sent back all the prooves they asked for...waiting again

03/25/2005- got married

USCIS

03/25/2011- I-130 sent in

03/26/2011- NOA-1

09/20/2011- Service Request

09/28/2011- Service Request Reply(extensive background check,allow 6 months...blah-blah..)

10/07/2011- RFE(4 pages)

11/15/2011- RFE reply sent back to USCIS

12/05/2011- reply for RFE showed up in the system (took them 20 days to locate and input in the system...lucky us...)

01/11/2012- NOA2(urrrrraaaaa!!!!)

NVC

01/23/2012-case received(took 12 days...waiting for the case #)

01/27/2012-case # received(but wrong Embassy assigned...has to change)

02/01/2012-invoices are e-mailed to both of us by NVC

02/07/2012-invoices are paid(had to wait due to the wrong assignment of the embassy )

02/14/2012-both packgs are sent in

02/29/2012-checklist for a missing copy of passport(not missing in reality,but either wait 20 days for a review or send it in again,so we sent it in...)

03/09/2012-case complete( could have taken less ,but well..who cares it is complete now!!!)

You have to understand that the 5 months is a guideline, not a deadline

Excuse my misuse of terminology. Guideline. Same questions apply, I am looking for the same data as in my original post. They have exceeded their "guidelines" or policy, which means something is amiss, or possibly not being handled correctly, and I want to know what the issue is. This thread is to ascertain what others' experience is in this situation.

True magical, but when one sees another cases being completed within 1 or 2 months and other taking 5 months, it is pretty sure the 5months one will complain or will think his case is unfairly processed, which is normal. I really feel their pain. Thinking about 5 months already give me headache.... :huh:

NVC Stage

1/31/2012-------Case received at NVC

2/08/2012------- Case number received, IIN, both petitionner and benificiary email given

2/08/2012------- DS 3032 ( choice of agent ) emailed to NVC

2/10/2012------- AOS fee bill paid ( status: in progress)

2/13/2012--------DS 3032 accepted

2/14/2012-------- AOS fee bill shows " PAID" and IV fee bill invoiced

2/16/2012-------- IV fee bill shows " PAID"

2/17/2012-------- IV package sent via USPS

2/24/2012-------- IV package reviewed and accepted

3/27/2012-------- AOS checklist express mailed via USPS

3/28/2012-------- AOS Checklist received by NVC

3/30/2012-------- Case Complete ( Thank you Lord )

Medical / Consulate / POE

5/11/2012-------- Medical Exam

6/12/2012-------- Interview date / APPROVED

6/21/2012 -------- POE Newark, NJ

We had the exact same thing happen to us, our petition kept getting transferred between three processing centers. After 5 months I wanted to verify if the wait time started again after each transfer. USCIS assured me that it starts from the date you get your NOA1. I requested an inquiry shortly after the 5th month to try to find out why my petition kept getting moved and they sent me an letter pretty much telling me what I already knew, "keep waiting." We finally got the NOA2 after 7 months. Then after the interview we had to wait another 2 months on AP. Just be prepared to wait, if you are lucky and get processed beforehand then you are just blessed.

Good luck and try to be patient and not worry (I know it is very hard to do)....

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Were at 7 months for AOS, our local CSC is on June processing? Waiting.

Wow do I ever feel blessed that it was only 27 days from the time I dropped it in the mail until we got NOA2.

Sorry everyone else is having a slow time

I think having Canada rather than Russia as your beneficiary's country rather helped with that.
