First of all, that really sucks to hear. Talk about bad luck. Yes you need the original NOA 2 document. Utmost importance to have on file.

I would advise the petitioner to file a Police Report. This way a proper acknowledgement of theft is recorded by the police for recordkeeping.

State to the cops what was stolen, contents.

Once you have the Police Report, contact USCIS and explain them the situation. If they require the Police Report you will have it.

Hopefully you guys can get a new NOA1 and NOA2 very soon. It's already in the system, just a matter of printing new copies and sending them to you

Ok, thank you.

I hope we can get this sorted fast. I have interview on Wednesday and I'm so close to being home with him.

It's awful to hear of it happening to people but when it happens to you, you feel..violated.

I hope we can turn this event around quickly and get a positive outcome.

Agreed on the police report. Are you sure that you absolutely need the NOA2 at this point though? Nice to have for emotional security, but I'm not sure you need them for AOS.

In any event, OP, I'm glad no one was hurt in the robbery - try to focus on the interview, you have plenty of time to sort out the lost documentation. (amazing they took the entire safe, yikes)

Amazing the kind of lengths they go to in Atlanta to get what they want!

I know every country has these issues, but it seems South-East USA has the worst of it!

Yeah, I just checked the requirements. NoA2 is required. Peachy.

Sorry to hear of this awful and untimely burglary, I hope your losses were minimal.

. Yes you need the original NOA 2 document.

No you don't....you only need a copy. Just reprint the document from the scanned version you made and saved on a hard drive.

Well since you have K-1 interview so soon, ask nicely if they can make a copy of NOA2 for you at the embassy.

Ohh good idea. Thank you.

Sorry to hear of this awful and untimely burglary, I hope your losses were minimal.

They took everything :(

So on top of Flights, Wedding, Christmas, Aos... we have to rebuild all our belongings. Lets hope the home insurance pay out.

I understand your pain, the anger and stress your fiance must be under. As bad as a burglary is, the feeling of being violated

and 'what if' they return in the future adds additional stress.

Best wishes.

Yes, you need a COPY of the NOA2 to attach to your AOS filing. You DO NOT Need the original.

If you did not make a copy then you will have to request a new one. The fee is $340, but may be waived under the circumstances. If not then your insurance may cover the replacement cost.

Suggestion

Make an infopass appointment at your local office, explain the situation and go from there.

get a new safe, BOLT IT to the floor or wall or both.

Make two copies. DO NOT keep them with valuable items. Keep another copy at a remote location in case of fire. Safe deposit box or just a friends house or relatives house. Put them in a box and ask if you can store it in their garage, basement, anywhere. Or scan them and put them on a disc and keep it somehwere else or in some cloud based back up. There are so many alternatives.

Burglars do not want your NOA2 or immigration records so don't keep them with stuff they DO want.
