Ok, first let me get this out of the way:

YES!:

1. We are madly in love!

2. We talk incessantly each day!

3. We are two soul mates fortunate enough to meet each other in this world of 6 billion!

4. We are fully committed to each other and long for the day when we are together "till death do us part".

5. We do become impatient with the extended K-1 visa processing with some days our desire and longing becomes unbearable!

But practically speaking, the 7 to 9 months from NOA 1 to our interview and subsequent approved visa allows the both of us the time to get certain things in order (finances, pay off a few debts, a relocation, health insurance issues, rearrange affairs, etc.) so the start of our life together will be planned and enjoyable. Because we all know that there will be other issues and obstacles thrown into the mix that will need to be dealt with.

How about you, come on, maybe you can't openly say this out loud but is not the 7 to 9 month wait a blessing in disguise!

I agree with this topic. The wait has really given me the preparation for my spouse's arrival, sort of like preparing the birth of a baby (9 months). My debt has been reduced 60% in order to supplicate the needs of my spouse. My responsibilities have been shifted to more of "us" than focusing on superficial things.

I wish you great luck with your progress. My spouse has an interview on Oct. 30. God willing this goes all well for him.

Mmm, definitely agree. It is also a good, real test of the strength of your relationship. The wait is worth it.

I completely agree. Yes, we too are madly in love and hate the time away from each other and are very very eager to begin our everyday lives together. But, there is so much to take care of, on both sides. If it were just a thing of applying for the visa then a month later you get it and have 90 days to get married, no way would we be able to make all the arrangements involved in completely relocating a person from one country to another. I hate waiting but at the same time I am grateful for the time so that we can do our best to prepare and make the transition easier.

well this is by far the most intense year of our lives. Didn't know it could surpass a few past ones but yes it is.. It HAS given us a chance to take care of business. Some things that need to be taken care of before I leave Canada are not finalized yet and I need that to happen. But it really pushes the envelope for patience...lol.. I want to be there NOW.. I miss his arms around me, I miss our meals together, and I REALLY miss climbing into bed beside him each night..

Indeed it is a test. When we get whiny about it we remind ourselves how this is the hard part. We get through this part, and everything else will seem so much easier once we can tackle it together hand in hand; and also, we will appreciate just being able to hug each other everyday. It is those little things that other couples may take for granted that I do not think (or at least hope) we ever will.

I agree also. While it would be wonderful to have had my fiance here immediately, our time apart has allowed me to completely rennovate the house (with input from her regarding colors, textures, etc.), and also to spend as much time possible with my 9 year old son so he can get used to the idea of me having someone else in my life.

My fiance has used this time to get her affairs in order also. She owns her own business and she's found a buyer, plus she's going to be selling (or giving away) the majority of her furnishings once she receives her visa.

Exactly. I know a few couples who may not have married or even continued dating if they had to go through this kind of boring, patience-pushing wait time.

Aaaand that's why couples who love each other are awesome.

i understand the long wait might be a blessing for some of us here, but for me and my fiancee it isn't a blessing to us. we don't have anything to take care of before we get to be together for good. the wait is actually making it difficult for us to make some life long final decisions in our lives. all we want is just to be together NOW. this wait is awful. but well...it is what it is and we are still waiting.

I think it is made easier for me personally because my loved one is right across the border in Canada. Anytime we are too lonely he hops a train (plane tickets over time add up) and comes down here. I can not begin to imagine how hard it must be when your love is so so far away. But I saw your timeline and your NOA2 should (hopefully) be coming soon biggrin.gif. That's awesome!

On a serious note, I too am grateful for the waiting period.

It does suck and it seems like it will never end when you're waiting for NOA2/Interview/Approval. However, my fiance and I have learned to communicate our thoughts and feelings extremely well. I have learned a great deal about being patient and resolving conflicts. I had a lot of problems with these things in past relationships because I think sometimes it can be easy to take someone for granted when they're with you all of the time.

That said, I can't wait to start my life with my fiance because I love him to bits.
