Hello everyone!

I'm glad to join this thread..yey!

Anyhows, after 8months of marriage, we have finally completed our requirements and will be sending our application (i-485, i-130, i-864, i-131, i-765) this week...but before that, i just have some questions..

1. Would there be a problem if we are just filing for my adjustment of status, after 8 months?

it is actually because, we were waiting for his naturalization copy all this time only to find out that as long as he have a US passport, it is not necessary to submit the naturalization certificate

2. We got married in february, my i-94 expired in march..can i still apply for a travel document even if i overstayed (but married) for 7months already?

3. If I would apply for a travel document (i-131), what should i apply for - a reentry permit or an advance parole?

4. Is USCIS particular with pictures? i asked for a passport-sized picture, i didn't realize that their passport size is 2x2..mine is 1.5x2 or 2x1.5..hmp..

5. Is it necessary for him to submit a birth certificate? he was born in the Philippines but now holds a US passport.

6. I have two first names - MARY GRACE, i would want to retain that name..and make my maiden last name - my middle name..and my last name - married name..is it possible? because i heard that you can only have one-word first name, then middle name of your choice and of course your married name..what can i do i love my name :)

7. How many G-1145 do i have to submit? clip one with every different form or just attach one for all the forms?

8. Is there a certain format in arranging this package/packet?

THANKS GUYS!!! Love u all and good luck to us!

I didn't call them, I just arrived at the center and asked to do it then because I had a free day and my husband had time to drive me. The guard wasn't thrilled but there were only a couple other people in the waiting room so he let us in. I just did it to save time, as I'm very eager for my EAD to arrive before Christmas.

Man your lucky, I showed up today in Modesto CA, there was one family leaving as I entered, I was the ONLY one in there place was dead, I asked the guy if I could do my biometrics early and he took my letter and looked and said no we can't do it 2 weeks early and cirled my Nov 15th date, he asked why I wanted to do it early I told him I'd be outta town that day, so he said I could come back any day the week of to get it done. grrr Imma stop by tom see if the same guys working, I can totally understand if they were busy but there was NO ONE else in the place.

There should be no problems.

2. We got married in february, my i-94 expired in march..can i still apply for a travel document even if i overstayed (but married) for 7months already?

I would advise against it, since an overstay of more than 180 days would trigger a 3 year ban upon reentry.

3. If I would apply for a travel document (i-131), what should i apply for - a reentry permit or an advance parole?

It would have been advance parole.

4. Is USCIS particular with pictures? i asked for a passport-sized picture, i didn't realize that their passport size is 2x2..mine is 1.5x2 or 2x1.5..hmp..

Can't say for sure. They might accept it.

5. Is it necessary for him to submit a birth certificate? he was born in the Philippines but now holds a US passport.

No

6. I have two first names - MARY GRACE, i would want to retain that name..and make my maiden last name - my middle name..and my last name - married name..is it possible? because i heard that you can only have one-word first name, then middle name of your choice and of course your married name..what can i do i love my name :)

Multiple first names are uncommon. You have the option to your hyphens which to be honest looks storage to me, but it may work here. FirstFirstname SecondFirstname MaidenName-MarriedName. This is not common so you will have to check with the marriage license rules where you will apply.

7. How many G-1145 do i have to submit? clip one with every different form or just attach one for all the forms?

One

8. Is there a certain format in arranging this package/packet?

Put them in any order you like and reference them in order on the table of contents page.

THANKS GUYS!!! Love u all and good luck to us!

I believe it does speed it up, at least by a week or two. They need the info on the fingerprints (background check) to further process your case, so if you sit waiting for biometrics, then your file sits and wait too. However if your biometrics gets back to them early, then they can pick up your file again and get things going. I've noticed that approximately 1mth after biometrics you get an update on your EAD/AP or interview letter.. That includes walking in early or waiting till your date. So if your appt is scheduled for the 7th of Nov, and you wait till then to do it, expect to get a letter or case update on your case around Dec 7th. However if you walk in for biometrics on the 25th October, you'll get a notice/case update on the 25th Nov. This is all approximate dates. BUT with walking in, you stand nothing to lose, and time saved.

thanks for the reply. unfortunately i have to go on my scheduled day since hubby cannot drive me to the place on an earlier date due to work >.<

yes it is possible. i have two names (well most filipinos born from the 80's do lol) and i also want to retain it. i applied for SSN with 2 first names, my maiden name as middle name and my husband's name as last name. the SS card reflects my new name now. just sucks though with my husband's insurance since they used my second name as middle name lol. other people have two names too like Billy Joe

Getting an RFE at some point :( I haven't got the hardcopy RFE yet, BUT I have been transferred to CSC. I got the I-797C that I'm being transferred before the RFE, but the RFE was issued first.

I hope it's just something simple. I know now for sure that I forgot to include proof that my mother in law (joint sponsor) is a USC (surely an SSN check will prove that???).

Hopefully going to CSC will mean no interview...?

Biometrics are on Tuesday. I'm a little nervous. Getting up super early to drive 120 miles doesn't thrill me either.

David.

We got our NOA1 on October 3 but still haven't received our Biometrics letter. I'm starting to get a little worried actually.

Did you get the Biometrics letter yet? If not, it may be best to contact them.

Did my bio yesterday. Really easy.

If anyone else has to go to Michigan City to have your biometrics, the place is really hard to find.

Come off 80/94 at 34B (421 North). Head north until you get to US20 but turn left just before you get to US20 (or turn at the light). Then turn left into Dunes Plaza. USCIS is in the south western corner of the strip mall. The sign says, and I quote:

"TION CENTER"

The rest of it fell off! The only way we knew it was the right place was a sign on the door that said NO WEAPONS ...

Anyway, I was in and out in 10 minutes. Easy peasy.

CSC have my I485 now and I'm just waiting on any RFEs I may get.

David.
