Timeline

I have two boys with my ex. One is 4 and one is 11. (Their birthdays are Feb 13 and Mar 15 respectively.) The oldest already likes asawa ko. It is inevitable they will meet since the boys spend time with me. I try to keep contact with my "Ex" to a minimum but that is like trying to turn off a leaky faucet. No matter how much you try to stop it from leaking, until you replace it, the faucet ain't fixed.

Asawa ko already understands about the "ex". The boys and the situation going on. I was not going to let her come to the USA blind to things. I love asawa ko with all of my soul. Asawa ko knows this. no one can take the place of gwapa kuting asawa ko in my heart.

(I am also heading back to a hearing for child support modification shortly after me and asawa ko get to the USA. Asawa ko already knows to be expected to be in the middle of this one no matter how much I try to keep asawa ko out of it. I have the "ex" from hades south side of the netherworld.)

Well, just try to keep it a minimum level of "ex talk". My hubby-to-be also has a 10yr old daughter, and he has if not Zero, little communication with her mother... I think she is old enough to answer the phone, mails or skype when dad calls.... (She lives in Oklahoma) I'm sure Gretchen doesn't say much about it, but it bugs her... trust me. Women doesn't like "ex talk", at least I don't

And again Congrats and Best wishes for you both!

Currently.... they have issued Ice the incorrect GC and we have tried 4 times to fix it. First time they had us send it to the incorrect address. Second time they said we used an expired form, which was the form they gave us. Third time was "oh sorry we lost the last page, can you send it again?." Fourth time is the gov is shut down. Will this ever be corrected in time for Ice to get the permanent GC? Stay tuned to find out. T_T

My ex wants me miserable and I refuse to be miserable. I just expect my ex to go nuts when she meets the new girl in charge. You know how fireworks are. All my ex needs is a good reason to go off. Asawa ko is just more then a good reason.

Honestly, you only HAVE to deal with the drama of the ex if you choose to do so... My ex-wife used to be "difficult" so I simply shut her out of my life. She was no longer allowed to enter my house when she picked-up the kids for her visitation and I spoke to her only when absolutely required to. It didn' take long for her to calm down and shut-up.

If the ex can't be civil then inform her that she is no longer welcome on your property. If she approached you in public simply turn and walk away. It really is just that simple.

Darren and Gretchen, congratulations to you both!!!! Darren I felt sorry for you when everyone was scolding you for your reaction to your experience outside Saint Luke's. I can see their point and I can see yours as well. I was in that area of Manila last October, and I experienced the peddlers and the beggers, and I know how you felt. Your feelings were not invalid, as a brother of the filipina I was with told me that sometimes they will follow you looking for a time you are vulnerable, and when they feel the time is right they on occasion will rush up beside you putting a knife in your ribs, then you will do what ever they ask you to do if you value your life. I was with a guy who had not fear, even when he might have been in danger, so I just followed him as we walked very quickly keeping my eyes moving. I think the secret is to be take all the precautions, and use your head, and I was in no actual danger, but according to this filipina's brother the potetial was there. I can see how you got caught in a bad situation when you thought you could get inside the door, and hand her the money, but then all of a sudden you had to hand her all this money in front of all these peddlers and beggers. I think I agree with the people who said you should have gone back to the hotel, or to Robinson's which is very close. After handing her all that money in front of them you were indeed a target. The guy I was with was a pro at bribery, and he even attempted to bribe the police, but the mistake he made was trying to bride them in front of all their comrads, so the bribery attempt was a failure, and they actually gave him a warning. But that is another thing you might have tried as someone said using some of the peddlers to protect you, maybe doing something nice for the guard so that he would want to help you. I am happy that you survived that, that you are still alive, and that you and Gretchen won!!!! :)Cheers for your future!

I do not want to make you worry even more, but with the embassy in BKK getting the NOA2 does not mean you are close to the end. We got our NOA2 at the end of June and now here we are almost three months later and we do not even have an interview date yet. It is going to take longer on the State Department level than with the USCIS.
