Consulate Review: Bangkok, Thailand
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : July 11, 2012
Embassy Review : My fiance had an interview on the 9th of July. Appointment time was at 7:30am but he went there about an hour early, was the 3rd person in line. Went through security check point, fingerprint, and then at window 6 a Thai lady (wasn't friendly) would take all the proofs and documents, put them in order, and asked a couple questions. Later told my fiance to go to the post office across the embassy to get a receipt of self addressed postage parcel (the post office wasn't open so he had to wait for about 30-45min?.) He came back to the embassy and later gave the receipt to the lady. About 30 minutes later a male officer called out his name, 1st time he wasn't sure so he listened for the 2nd time. It was window number 8? ( i forgot) Here's how the conversation kinda went, not exactly in order I guess...

CO: Koon pood pasa arai pen bung? (what languages can you speak?)
fiance: pasa Thai, Karen, and English
CO: Oh English? okay good. How did you and your fiancee meet?
fiance: She sent me an email to my hotmail later told me she found my email address on facebook .
CO: Million of people on facebook, how did she find you?
fiance: at that time I didn't have any pictures of myself on my profile but a profile of the landscape/sunset. She was interested in it.
CO:What's the date you added each other on facebook?
Fiance: I'm not sure about the date but it was in 2010.
CO: how do you communicate?
fiance: we use windows live messenger and sometimes gtalk.
CO: you talk on the phone too right? (quickly looking through the proofs of phone calls a few hundred pages, and hundreds screen shots of windows live messenger and gtalk )
Fiance: yes. we use voipdiscount.
CO: What's your fiancee's name?
Fiance: Joon ___ _____
CO:where does she live?
faince: Saint Paul, MN
CO: Why were you in Australia?
Fiance: My boss sent me to study English.
CO: Why did your boss send you there?
Fiance: To improve my English skill. Then I applied for college, got diploma in IT at (school name)
CO: You were in Australia for 2 years?
Fiance: Almost 3 years because I went there in the beginning of 2008 and left toward the end of 2010.
CO: "nodded" What school did your fiancee go to?
Fiance: She went to University of Minnesota.
CO: What was her major?
Fiance: I don't know about that because she quit after her 2nd year.
CO: Why did she quit?
Fiance: Because she found a very good job.
CO: "looking at our 13 photos" what are the dates of these pictures were taken?
Fiance: I'm not sure about the exact date but they all were taken in May 2011.
CO: where did she stay when she came to Thailand?
Fiance: At __________ a week later we traveled to different places in Thailand.
CO: Who paid for the trips?
Fiance: we both did.
CO: "put up picture from Karnchanaburi" Where is it taken?
Fiance: Karnchanaburi
CO: "put up picture from Chiang Mai." Is it from Chiang Mai?
fiance: Yes. at Chiang Mai Zoo
CO:What's your fiancee DOB?
Fiance:Nov 27 1986
CO: how old is she?
fiance: 25
CO: You're 29 right?
Fiance: Yes.
CO: Do you plan to have any children?
Fiance: of course sir. In the future.
CO: "Turned off his speaker. On the phone." (my fiance couldn't here him) "A min later turned on the speaker" I'm sorry, we can't issue your visa today. You did very good but the only problem is we need a fingerprint clearance from Australia not just the name check. As soon as you get your fingerprint clearance, mail it in w/ your passport. (handed back proofs and some of the original documents)
Fiance: okay. So I just need that fingerprint clearance from Australia right?
CO: "smiled" Yes. But don't forget to include your passport.

Fiance left the embassy around 9am?

Rating : Good

POE Review: Minneapolis/St Paul
Event Description
Entry Date : 2012-09-09
Embassy Review : Fiance was standing at Visitor/Immigration line holding his "do not open" packet, the security/airport police saw him and told him to go line up at people w/ disability? He was standing there for almost 40 min. Then they took his packet, stamped and check his luggage, it took about 5-10 min? only asked "what's your fiancee's name and is she picking you up?"
Harassment Level : Low

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
