Hi everyone THOSE RECEPTIONISTS R DRIVING ME NUTS sorry for my language.. i kept explaining to them that heeee is filing his paper work within one year limit.. so he does not have to do the medical exam all over i will go crazy the stupid retarded receptionist kept telling me i HAVE To.. we do not accept over seas forms bla bla bla,,. (((( do any of you know any civil surgeons that will do that.. pls help ..i live in Chicago

Don't talk to the receptionist. Ask politely to speak with the CS themselves or have them call you back.

Why waste your time with a receptionist who is not trained in Civil Surgeon rules?

how do i convince them ?? i dont get it ... i will take that instruction form in where it states that he does not need another medical exam. i mean idc he can do it but why waste money on stupid ppl. i swear i am going to call USCIS RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER..because that is what their website states... that K-1 visa holders r exempt from the medical exam...if filling before 1 year expires... even the form DS-3025 IS IN ENGLISH.. omg

We had a similar problem last week with the actual CS, so we're going somewhere else

We've spoken to another place now, as well as the USCIS and apparently there's another form I-693A which isn't on the USCIS website, but the CS should have which is for extra shots for when you've already had the medical.

I'll have a better idea once I go to the doctors. I have my first appointment today

Also a note to others.... bring you CD with the x-ray with you. I'm having to pay for a TB test as I dont have any evidence of that. I'd read on VJ that you didn't need it..... unfortunately it seems I do and I shipped the bloody thing.

Still, the first CS wanted over a grand, so its way better than that

The CS needs the I-693, not the I-693A. I believe it's parts 1,2, and 5 needed filled out for the vaccination transcription?

A CS wanted over a grand? Even the full medical should be around $150-250. The vaccination transcription is usually around $25-50.

Back from the doctors

They said they needed to do the test for the TB, and follow up shots for Tetnus. They said I could probably get away without the other MMR as I don't come from a high risk area, but we didn't want to take any chances

Assuming the TB test comes back negative it should be $235

$60 for the MMR

$25 for the tetnus

$150 for the TB test

the rest to cover the blood work I had today

They had to re-do some of the stuff from the medical, but the doctor seemed pretty honest

The other doctor wanted

$120 for MMR

$240 just for the appointment

$120 for chicken pox which i don't even need

$500 odd for the full medical which I don't need

I'd love to have it done for as little as $50 but to be honest I'm not going to go to every civil surgeon in town trying to get a bargain

Where do you live?

You shouldn't need a TB test (you had one already, no?), but you will need vaccines if you are due for boosters. Is there a county health clinic near you? My husband got his MMR for free. Where do you live?

Hopefully a K-1 AOS will come along and explain it better... Good luck.

They need to sign me off against a number of things, which I have already been tested for. But I dont have any documentary evidence.

Without the TB it'd only be about $80 all in, but like I say..... I read on VJ that you dont need the disk with the xray

But I don't care at this point, I just want my EAD

This thread mentions a doctor in San Jose (a bit far, I know) that charges $10 for vaccination transcription. I am having the same issue I think there is nothing to do but pay the CS I have called around and unless I want to drive for 6 hours none of them in my area will do just the vaccination transcription. The I-693A is no longer valid if you do find a copy and get the CS to sign it, it will be rejected as an expired document There was another post here of this happening to someone else while I was searching for my answer.

I am not sure if it is greed or just ignorance but we are going tomorrow for our appointment with the CS who said he was not sure (ignorance). I am hoping I he will look at the instructions and agree. :-D If not I am just going to pay the $300 for the physical.

Is he missing any shots? If he's not just send the DS-3025.

Also, no TB test is required if your medical is still valid. Lots of CS's misunderstand the new TB rules and misapply it to a K1.

Can you explain the "new TB rules?" Or, for that matter, the old ones? I had never heard of something like that.. maybe it was old. I just don't know. Thanks

DS-3025 is marked as incomplete if you are too old for certain vaccinations and you have no records from your childhood (At least the doctors in the Philippines do this). You are correct if you have a complete DS-3025 you do not need to send in the I-693.

At least I'm not the only person in this position

I'm watching my TB skin test like a hawk now as I had the BCG when I was school age and the doctor said it may or may not cause a reaction. But didnt have a skin test done as part of the original medical

The CS is using the i-693 btw, so no issues there.

Hopefully I can put this behind me on Thursday, got half the AOS packet printed out, going to do the rest tomorrow and hopefully get it in the post Friday or next week.

Gotta say, my opinion of America really has changed a lot since I got here. More red tape than I have ever seen, and I thought the UK was bad.

For anyone else moving here I think take as much documentation about you past as you can.

You x-ray disk, childhood vacinations as well as the DS-3025

Or if at all possible get everything done before you medical as a completed DS-3025 would be a god send right about now

We had limited exam in US by CS, TB test and he reviewed the x-ray, shot records, blood test and done with paperwork. Try another one if needed, i found a good Dr out of it.
