Hi everyone!! My question is about the i-131 travel form that we will be filing along with the AOS paperwork.

We don't actually have any plans to leave the US for 2 years anyway, but as with everyone, I have elderly Grand-parents and anyone can die at any point not just the elderly or there could be any kind of emergency and if that were the case I would HAVE to go back no questions asked, so can someone please help by instructing me as to exactly what to fill in on the i-131 form and what to include. I will be sending an attached letter explaining that I do have an elderly granddad who has been ill etc.

Thanks for any responses

Keep in mind two things. You said you don't plan to travel for "the two years" so understand that once you get your GC, you no longer require the travel permission - that is a temporary measure for then next few months.

Second, to fill it out, you don't even need to include an explanation. The fact that you have a pending I-485 is reason enough. AP is routinely approved for pending I-485 cases. Follow the form instructions for "Advance Parole." Good luck.

Write "unknown" in the date. No letter is needed to explain the reasons. Have a look at the AOS thread in my signature. It has the required document list

Hi Vanessa, great job with you previous posts. I' m the beneficiary of a K1 visa, we got married and now I'm applying for the I485 (AOS). I have some doubts too about the I131 since I would like to be able to go to Italy if something happened but of course I do not know when/if I'll go. So for the part 3 "Processing information", date of intended departure and expected length of the trip... should I put UNKNOWN in both?

Thank you so much.
