Just keep calling NVC about your interview date. You can also start calling DOS now and inquiring about it as well. Hopefully you won't have to wait too long to hear of the interview date. Good luck!

Just call 202-663-1225, press 1 and then 0 and a visa specialist will come on. Then explain what you want, and they'll ask for your case number. That's all there is

Oh, and they aren't as open as long as NVC, they close at 5 or 5:30 ET, so you'll have to wait till tomorrow.

When I wasn't watching television or reading and writing on VJ, I worked on preparing the file for submission to the NVC. Since I will opt for EP, I scanned all the necessary documents into PDF files and combined them into one big file as appropriate.

For AOS, I have scanned the 2010 tax return and W2 as well as the transcripts from 2009 and 2008. I'm waiting on that letter from my employer. I also scanned paystubs.

The IV package is all scanned and ready to send; DS-230, our marriage certificate, my wife's birth and police certificates.

I called DOS and the very nice visa specialist said that as soon as they get the case from NVC the embassy will schedule the interview. The NVC operator told me that they schedule the interview. Do you know which is correct? Or is it embassy specific?

For IR-1/CR-1; interviews are scheduled by the NVC based on what they are told is available by the appropriate Embassy or Consulate. The only Consulate that schedules its own interviews is Guangzhou and that is only in non-EP cases.

Yes, I remember when I was calling DOS during my wait for an interview date to be assigned that DOS gave the opposite information as NVC. Don't listen to DOS when they say this. NVC gets the schedule of availability from the embassy/consulate and the NVC then proceeds to schedule interview dates depending on the amount allowed per each embassy/consulate.

As soon as the visa specialist says that an interview date hasn't been assigned, just say thanks and hang up. No need to listen to their wrong information each time

I called the NVC again tonight, not surprisingly, I got the wait 10-20 business days for the file to be entered into the system.

Yipee! Just got the official email, interview September 29.

PS The DOS operator gave me the date yesterday like you said, I just wanted to wait for the email.
