Sept. 15 2005 - my tall, shy man boarded a plane to the US. Leaving behind the only town he had ever lived in during his 42 years. He'd locked up the house he had lived in 30 years, sorting through possessions and trying to cram a lifetime into 3 or 4 cases. He'd taken the time to see a few relatives he hadn't seen in a while, and stopped by the cemetary to say goodbye to his parents. He'd quit his job and torn his PC apart to cram it into a carry on bag. He'd shaken hands with his best friend, and gotten a bear hug from his brother at the terminal.

All that to be here with me.

Things here aren't quite yet what he dreamed of that day. He's got a job but it's not great - he deserves better. Money's tight - our home is for sale. I'm cranky some days - I wish the life we dreamed of weren't so far out of reach right now.

It's one year since now, baby. And I still love you. Does that count?

Awwww, Becc... didn't see this until tonight. What a special sentiment to post.

What these men will do for love, eh? David is in the process of wrapping up things in Germany, much as Wes did... although David has family in the UK whom we won't see until we travel next year on our 'honeymoon'.

I know you're not dimissing the adjustments you've had to make... that counts too!

**hugs**

Jen

8-30-05 Met David at a restaurant in Germany

3-28-06 David 'officially' proposed

4-26-06 I-129F mailed

9-25-06 Interview: APPROVED!

10-16-06 Flt to US, POE Detroit

11-5-06 Married

7-2-07 Green card received

9-12-08 Filed for divorce

12-5-08 Court hearing - divorce final

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

Aww, it made me all sniffly to read this!

 me too.....

In my time on VJ watching/reading about everyone going thro' this tough and often painful process of being with their loved ones, the thing that has struck me most is that the visa process is only a small part of it...the real journey and hard work begins the day they step off the plane.

Congrats to you both on getting thro your first year  and much much happiness for all the years ahead of you.... (F)(F)

Congratulations Becca and Wes and wishing you both much happiness.

Everything I respond to is from personal knowledge, research or experience and I am in no means a lawyer or do I claim to be one. Everyone should read, research and be responsible for your own journey.
