Hello everyone,

To all people who have already gone through this and those who are more familiar with this, what is the green card interview procedure? Are people in the same room or separated in different rooms? What do they ask, etc?

Thank you very much in advance:-))

Thanks to this website and all people I learnt a lot and all the info was very helpful!

To my knowledge there is no interview for a green card. You would have an interview for AOS if it is from a K-1 visa or your consulate interview for a CR-1 visa. You need to let us know what visa type is involved and where in the process you are so people can address which of the interviews will be applicable to you.

Typically if you have an interview you will both go to it and be sworn in by the IO. Then depending on YOUR case and YOUR evidence and YOUR IO, the questions will be either confirmation of the information on the application form or more direct and a bit personal. If the IO suspects fraud a stokes interview will be required where you will be in seperate rooms and asked the same very personal questions. It comes down to what have you submitted, the IO, the country of the beneficiary, and other factors we do not know about. IMHO I think most IO have decided what they are going to do before you step into the room. If it is approval than the interview is a snap. If they have some doubts than the interview is a bit more involved. If they are going to deny you, then you will have to prove to them that the marriage is legit and that might take some doing.

I would not worry, but you asked a very open ended question which is what the IO may do to you  .

Good luck.

You will bring your evidence documents and pictures with you, and be interviewed together in the same room. They will ask for passport, EAD, IDs from you both. They ask the immigrant some basic questions (name, parent's names, etc.), and questions they already answered on the I-485, like have you ever been deported or were you a terrorist. They may ask how you met and about your relationship, and ask to see the documents and pictures you brought with you. We were not asked for anything we brought with us, but others have been. It is best to be prepared with them. Overall the process is pretty pleasant and doesn't last very long. We walked away from our interview wondering why we had been so worried and nervous to begin with. Good luck! :)

Ummm yes there is an "interview for GC". That's what "AOS" is... the process of getting a GC.

Sometimes the interview is waived for K1 AOS applicants, sometimes it's not. interviews for the GC/AOS are standard, just some lucky people (like myself) don't have one if they AOS from a K1

Like Vanessa said, some interviews for AOS based on a K1 are waived. It's the luck of the draw if you get one or not.I think some people panic or something is wrong if they have an interview for their 2 year GC.

I didn't get one for my AOS, but had an interview for my ROC which was a piece of pi$$.
