Everyone when you file gets a 'priority date' When your at NVC stage it will appear on your paperwork. I think your priority date is the day you file. We sent off our I-130 start of dec, and on our paperwork it says "priority date december 5th". Think what you mean though is how some people can get an expedite. I agree it annoys me seeing people get granted them for no apparent reasons other than they miss their spouse, well we all do. I tried to get one as FIL is scheduled for major 50/50 spinal surgery but his doctor wouldn't give them a note with the date on, so NVC said without proof i couldn't be expedited :(

I personally don't feel anyone should be given priority over anyone else unless they have a Really good reason I.E spouse deploying, bad illness, about to give birth. Yes people with children need to be together, but then its almost punishing those who don't have kids. We want kids one day yes, but decided to wait till this is all done with, so I think on the basis of children we should all be the same. Im sure its tough being alone with the kids, but even for those who dont have kids there are issues. We will all get there in the end, and it sucks to be apart, but hey military families have to do it all the time so we can do it just once, thats the way i see it:P

We have 2 doggies who I joke are our kids for now, and I miss hubby and them soooo much. we've been apart since june 2010 because i initially filed UK visa but it was denied because i couldnt find work, then we filed CR1 in dec. Granted ive visited twice, but by the time I get there (hopefully aug) it will have been over a year weve been apart. We have spent more of our married life apart, than together so far, but im sure its like that for alot of us.

So keep on trucking, and we'll all get to be with our loved ones soon

There are many cures for not having to raise kids apart, birth control, abortion. The process is set up the way it is so nothing but a few extreme emergencies will cause someone to jump in front of another person. Yes the line is long and slow but it alway well documented how long it will take so there is no excuse to comlain about self inflicted discomforts. What if they had a income based waiting line so those of us with 6 figure incomes could go first. I think that is fair also ( not really )

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

EVERY case get's a priority date. Getting an expedite is a total different thing.

Maybe you can send an e-mail to USCIS and explain your reason as to why you want an expedite. Pregnancy, birth of your children, depression are not legit excuses. It needs to be life threatening or life changing.

You should have known this process is long and weary. Keep good faith and have a good attitude about things and you should do fine.

Immigration is a privilege, not a right.

With respect that is not always the case. I have seen at least 3 cases here recently where people were grated expedites based on non life threatening scenarios and non emergent situations. I don't want to name names or make people feel bad, because im happy they got them, but it annoys me that they did.

It all depends and is assessed case by case. Sometimes a well written letter from a superior or well to do person is enough to grant expedite, then someone requesting it for an actual good reason with proof is denied an expedite so it all just depends on the day and the officer granting it i believe.

Its just the way it is. all we can do it get over it and keep on waiting life everyone else :(

I have seen them too. I am not here to say it's right or wrong from them to be granted it, but it does happen. The majority of the time I bet it does get denied.

I myself will try to see if a well written letter will be able to get me a early Interview date when the time comes. I will just be asking nicely and not stating any hardships or anything of that nature as my current situation is fine.

You never know, asking and getting a denial is better than not asking at all...

Yeah indeed. I was given at interview date of july 29th (assigned on june 11th), and mentioned my FIL's surgery july 22nd in an email, they re-arranged my interview for the 25th july, so I will still miss it, and be worrying like crazy that i cant be there to support hubby and them, but hey 4 days is better than nothing lol. I was simply polite, mentiond my interest to push it sooner and they replied with the date of the 25th.

I use the Military family reference to keep myself grounded in this process all the time. My brother in law was deployed and saw his family only once for 2 weeks in 12 months. I see my husband more regularly than that and at least I know exactly where he is and that he is safe.

Yes indeed me too. Longest so far hubby and I have been apart is 6 months straight, and yes it sucked but its only like we have to go through this once, then were together forever.... that is unless either of us decide to join the military :P

me an my husband have 2 small kids 1 he missed the birth of because of this visa proces

Your children are an advantage in terms of proving the bona fide nature of your marriage. Please don't give credence to those who describe children as ‘self-inflicted discomforts’ or that a wanted pregnancy has a ‘remedy’ other than safe and healthy delivery.

True: children mourn the loss of proximity w/re: the other parent, and absence during the 0-4 years old bonding period can be deleterious. I understand completely. My 5 REALLY want their dad here. They lost one dad to death, and they are anxious to start their new life with their new dad. Nothing about their situation can be described as “fair.” Love is boundless, and that’s beautiful, so we focus on that. (L)

I think expedites are a sore subject here. Then again, it seems inequitable that petitions move from VCS to NVC in 3 days, and yet CSC it takes 3 weeks.

Hang in there. Your NOA2 will come. Hug those little ones and know there are many here who will cheer the day you are reunited with your spouse. Never let hope fade. (F)

I hate when people think they are owed something just because the can not do proper planing for themselves. You are no more special then anyone else on here stop your crying already. We all have people we want to be with but we have to wait like grown ups. I hate that I have not seen Theary in almost 6 months but I deal with it. I do not think I am more special then you and should move in front of you (kids or not) you should be done in the order you turn in application (having an illness or deployment excluded) :bonk:

 I agree.

While I do have sympathy for those who are in this process while pregnant or with children, I do believe that people should more often exercise choice in their life and reproductive options. Why not do things in the right (responsible) order? Meet, fall in love, become engaged, get married, have stable job situations and then have children?

August 23, 2010 - I-129 F package sent via USPS priority mail with delivery confirmation.

August 30, 2010 - Per Department of Homeland Security (DHS) e-mail, petition received and routed to California Service Center for processing. Check cashed. I-797C Notice of Action by mail (NOA 1) - Received date 08/25/2010. Notice date 08/27/2010.

Called Visa Specialist at the Department of State every day for a case update. Informed of interview date on February, 16 2011. Informed that packet was mailed to fiance on February, 15 2011.

February 21, 2011 - Fiance has not yet received packet. Called 1-877-804-5402 (Visa Information Center of the United States Embassy) to request a duplicate packet in person pick-up at the US consulate in Santo Domingo. Packet can be picked-up by fiance on 02/28.
