Yay congrats!!

1. CF1 means "conditional, family, 1". so conditional and adjusted from a family based visa, 1st category which is K1.

2. I don't carry my GC, or a copy. I know I should I just haven't got around to getting a colour copy done. I will NOT carry the original. Too many scary stories of people trying to file ROC, having to file for the replacement (and pay the fee) just to turn around and hand it over! No thanks!

3. Because you were approved on the 17th, and your file was probably being checked by a supervisor (can't go telling people they're approved when they're not). My card says 1st July, but I didn't get notified till 6th July (wow, just realised I've officially been an LPR for a year!!)

I agree, just asking because the welcome letter says " Please carry it with you at all times if you are 18 or older. It is the law"

That's right, the law is the law, and don't you ever forget it!

Just one question: where does a Green Card holder carry his Green Card on him "at all times" when having sex, taking a shower, or going for a swim on the beach? If you can answer that to me, I will give you a thumbs up cookie!

If you want two cookies, however, you'll have to answer where a gay, yet law-abiding Green Card holder having sex with another man should carry his Green Card if he cannot assert it into any body cavity and also doesn't want his sex partner to know that he's a foreigner, meaning he cannot have it dangling on a chain around his neck?

If you can't answer that successfully (I can't), then you have proven that mindless obedience without switching on the brain, like it was the case during the Nazi regime, only gets people in trouble. It would consequently suggest to use common sense where common sense makes sense and leave the Green Card where it belongs: at the safest place at home.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

President Teddy Roosevelt on Columbus Day 1915
