What should we do if the birth certificate of the petitioner is since 1975?

we request a new one but we cannot coz the MINNESOTA govt shut down so what should we do? this is one of the requirements in K1 visa Please can someone help me?thank you

The state is shut down but around here, both NH and Massachusetts, you go to the town or city you were born in. Are they shut down too??

Just checking, but you do know all the pages of the US citizen's passport is also an option right? That assumes he has one, of course.

Do you mean that the BC was issued in 1975? I didn't know a BC expired, other than when you kick the bucket, of course, but this is not the case or else you wouldn't be filing a K1

You should use the one you have from 1975. There is no reason to freak out or get something different.

The original birth certificate along with the 129-F? i arrange it already and at the same time we have a copy of his SS card and his passport front and back copies

According to the health department where i received my birth cert. in Washington state I was told a lot of government places will not accept a birth cert. that is 3 years old or older FYI

I'll go with Penguin_ie, a petitioner only has to prove US citizenship so even the US Passport pages will do that. No birth certificate of the petitioner required. If you don't have a US Passport you can get one pretty quickly if you are a USC. But I have to assume the petitioner has one already because they had to go overseas to meet their fiance!

I have the same BC that I have had for fifty years... You don't need to get a new one unless you are somehow "born again".

The county is responsible for birth and death records and they are open for business during this state shutdown...
