Stand up and Be Proud because WE ARE US CITIZENS. My father is a Retired Sgt Major of the US Army, and I am proud to be a citizen of the United States. My father was in Korea and Vietnam, and I grew up being very proud of my father and the country he fought for. I happened to be in College when the Vietnam War ended, and it was a time that many people were not so proud of the US Military. I had College Professors refuse to help me because my father was a Vietnam Vet. I stood up for my rights then, and I will stand up again.

We are a country started by immigrants. We are a Democracy. We have a Constitution and a Bill of Rights. I will be respected, and I will have my rights honored. I pray that my husband is given the same respect and honored the same as I was honored by being a child, born in Germany, with a father who fought for this country. I was not born in America, but I am proud to be an American, and I always will be.

I have waited over 6 months to get my husband's Visa Application approved so that we can move on to the next step. I was sent a letter that told me if I do not hear anything from CSC within the next 180 days, (6 more months) feel free to inquire again. This is ridiculous.

I am not alone. I promise you that before this is over, the world is going to know what pain we have all been subject to. I will not give up until the immigration system is improved for all us, even if it takes the rest of my life because I have witnessed too much pain from so many couples waiting to be with their loved ones.

WE ARE IMPORTANT!!!!

wow that really sounds like overkill on the part of the CSC, if you said to the government i haven't paid my taxes yet but feel free to enquire in 180 days to see if there is any change, what do you think they'd say and do? i think that the whole process should be sped up, it is a ridiculous amount of time for what they need to do :S

Pride becomes before the fall. Just look at the Third Reich: boy how proud the Germans all were! Germany, Germany above all. First Germany, then the whole world.

Where did it get them?

On the same token Vietnam has to be seen. It's honorable to defend one's country against intruders and invaders, but it's a totally different gig to fly thousands of miles to another country on another continent and kill people there. For that reason, not because Americans didn't love America, the Vietnam vets were not welcomed with open arms when they returned to the U.S.

Where did it get them?

The same applies to Iraq and Afghanistan. We are not defending our country there. The kids who serve there often had no other choice then living on the streets of Michigan, or enlist, hoping they won't get killed before they can kill. It has nothing to do with love of this country or pride. It's insanity, a huge injustice, war for business.

Pride. Yeah, right.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

Chris,

A friend on Visa Journey got the same letter and she just found out through her congressman that they had mailed her an RFE that she did not receive and that is why her application has been held up. I guess I need to make another attempt to see if that is what is holding mine up.

Thanks for the support.

You should be proud of your country, your father and the military that defends us. Don't let the words of a sourpuss disturb you. After all, it is the veterans of this country that have defended his right to say whatever spills out of his/her mouth.

As a Vietnam veteran, we have all taken it upon ourselves to thank other veterans each year on Veteran's Day and also Memorial Day.

As to your crusade to reform the immigration process, good luck with that. The 180 days has been the standard line for the immigration process for a very long time. As the saying goes, "Your results may vary".

Hang in there, the time will pass and once your sweetie is with you, the time delay will be forgotten.

Thanks 1HappyGuy. It is just hard to believe they can send out a letter that pretty much says we can take forever if we want to, but you can check back with us every 6 months. I believe someone has to try to change things. Why not me?

We are a Democracy.
No, and thank heaven we're not. The USA is a constitutional republic.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
