I know the immigration rule is to get married within 90 days of fiance(e)'s entry into the US.

Having said that, I had a conversation with someone today that said a US Citizen Fiance could go to abroard to marry his fiancee after she gets the visa and that would fulfill the requirement to get married within 90 days of fiance(s)'s entry into the US.

Put differently, If I travel abroad to my fiancee's country, AFTER she receives her visa, and marry her over there, then come back together to the US, will I still need to re-marry her within 90 days in the US? Can I simply use the overseas marriage certificate to file for her adjustment of status? Please help.

Don't do that because your fiance will have problem on her PORT OF ENTRY. I'll tell you my experienced. When I was interviewed by the customs officers at my POE. The officer asked me many times if me and my then fiancee got married abroad. Of course I told him no because that was the truth. He even told me, that he can send me back home right then if I lied. Because, apparently someone called the immigration after I got the visa that " we had a wedding in my country". So 2 of the officers checked all my luggage which took them an hour. I did not know what they were looking but I was told that they were looking for marriage certificate and wedding pictures.

So don't make things complicated. Go for the legal route.

Are you freaking crazy? A Fiance visa is a fiance visa not a spousal visa. NO you can't do that and whoever told you needs their heads read. Your fiance arrives here and you marry in 90 days and then adjust status. As said before if you marry over there and then she comes her married to you then it is immigration fraud.

Have a party , run naked though the street of Lagos but do NOT marry there. If they EVER find out you married in Nigeria they can revoke every immigration benefit you have gotten. If they find out after she is a USC they could remove her citizenship. If you want a Nigerian wedding do it after you have immigration straighten out over here. Do not risk everything you have worked so hard for.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Hi, I do not know if what prompts you to ask this question is a cultural thing of your fiancee's country or family pressure... I have a friend who leave the Philippines on a K-1 visa who had a ceremony here, just a ceremony, no application for marriage license... etc... it is attended by family and friends... it is like a wedding but with no papers... the next day.. they left for Massachusettes, and got legally (with papers and all) married, a few hours after they land. This time, with the groom's family and close friends.

I get this question all the time too - I just remind my loved ones "no can do, I need an American marriage certificate to do this right." Folks not going through this process have all kinds of ideas about why we're bothering with all this trouble - just smile and nod, and make sure you're doing things right, which it sounds like you have under control.

I don't know who you're listening to, but that has to be one of the craziest things I've ever heard, If you do that you will be completely setting youself up BiG Time. I was told while in Africa, if I just pay someone $3,000.00 they could get a visa for my girl, and I said YEAH ok "See Ya" DON'T Do IT....
