Consulate Review: Manila, Philippines
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : March 21, 2011
Embassy Review : I wrote this coz there\'s not much reviews lately... I had my interview March 21, 2011. I arrived around 5:30am, an hour before my 6:30am appointment, i found that the 6:15 appointment were already lined up per category Immigrant (K visa belongs to immigrant), tourist visa and seaman (6:20 appointment). However, there are 6:15 appointments who arrived exactly around 6:15, so its a bit unfair for those 6:30\'s and 7:00\'s appointment who arrived earlier (Advice: If you are positive that you can get to the embassy very early... take the earliest appointment time).

Around 6:30 they announce that we can go in... so we went in.. you will go through door #3 first building is the security building (they have x-ray machine so no cellphones, etc), then you will go out pass the security building and fall in line to get your number (they have a another small building outside with 3 windows), then after getting your number... you will then proceed to the main building.

The new main building is very comfortable with several chairs, with enough airconditioning and lightning. They have a screen where they flash the numbers randomly for the first step, which is the submission of requirements and interview by a Filipino staff:

I gave my proof of payment, Birth Certificate, CENOMAR, NBI clearance and Affidavit of Support (with 2010-2008 ITR, Certificate of Employment and recent payslips - he gave me back the 2009-2008 return and payslips)

Questions were:
What\'s your name
Name of fiancee
When did we first met
Where did we met
When did I last see him
And if we have pictures (I put my pictures in a clearbook, so he just ask to show it to him)

I just notice that when it comes to the biometrics and interview, they tend to flash the number in order on whatever they have on that particular window. So since the numbers given that morning starts with 5xxx, 6xxx and 7xxx, and i got lucky to get the number 7xxx, I was one of the last ones, I saw some people who are behind me, get ahead of me... so It kinds pisses me off... but i remain positive coz anyway, I am already there, and I have to be positive... There are kids also running around... this is not a problem to me... I like kids better than adults... hahahahaha, I played with 3 kids in random...

I got biometrics before 9am and I wasnt interviewed until around 11:30, i was soooo hungry, and that made me fumble during the interview. My number flashed for window 63 or 64, i am no longer sure... I particularly like this consul coz he flashes numbers after numbers... so even if he is not yet finish with the other interviewee, there is already one person behind waiting... Some of the consul is very slow... and took breaks between interviews.

So when i got to the window, he was still inputting data in the computer and took the documents of the first person before me into the table. He apologize and ask me to raise my right hand and made me swear that i will tell the truth.

His questions are basically the same of the questions above, except he ask if i promise to marry my fiancee within 90 days (duh! the wedding is already set on April 19, two days after my POE). I said yes. I fumbled when he asked do you have kids... I said yes 2, and he said what? you have kids... (I don\'t), i said i meant.. my fiancee has two kids, I dont have kids...

He said okay... you visa has been approve wait for your number to be flash on the screen.

I waited again for another 30 minutes then window 71, the filipino guy in Window 71 is sooo friendly, he asked why i look sad... and i smiled... i can\'t smile anymore coz i was sooo hungry by that time.. as in freaking hungry my hands are shaking... he ask me to fill up a form for the data of where I want my document to be delivered then proceed to Window 43, the girl in Window 43 just asked me if they asked me to send some additional documents and I said no... she said... this is okay Ma\'am, then i\'m off.

I left the embassy around 12:05, ohhh before I left, they announce that immigrant visa and K visa who has not been interviewed yet by the consul, to come back 1pm.

I went home, bought lunch then open my computer, my fiancee is not online, called him to tell him the good news... then we chatted while im eating... hehehehe

Right now, i am still hungry... hahahahaha

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
