My Fiancé received the RFE email today.. Our petition has been Processing for 5 months already, throughout that time we have had no touches or any news on it at all..

Can anyone tell me if its normal to get an RFE this late? Im more than a little worried about it.. Scared that it is going to take an extra 5 months for them to look at out application again.

Yes! Good luck  Taking an additional 5 months after responding to your RFE will however be unusual.

Your best bet now is responding to the RFE as soon as possible to cut in the waiting time.

Can i ask what your RFE was for? We thought he had everything filled out right, he had a lawyer look over it and everything.

Gosh, im so upset! lol I just thought we would have gotten the RFE so much sooner.. I mean, we are at the date of where we would be getting the NOA2 anyday now..

That is the point! If you had filed everything correctly you would have been approved and gotten your NOA2 right now. There are two major times you receive a request for more information. When you first filed if you left out something important and right when they are looking at you for approval, at that point it is approval, RFE or rarely a denial. They aren't sitting there staring at your case for 5 months. It is likely it has been getting dusty at the bottom of a box with no human contact since you got your NOA1.

Hi, at 5 months and 2 weeks we got an RFE, I was absolutely heartbroken. I thought " what do they want, I gave them everything!!!" After a week of sheer panic I recieved our snailmail RFE... in my rush to send out everything I forgot to sign the G325! LOL :bonk: So I signed the G325 and ran to the post office and mailed it back express. Within a week we had our

NOA2! So it may be something so very simple, don't waste too much time fretting and worrying, wait for the snailmail and send off the requested evidence right away, you hopefully will just be 2 weeks behind! Needless to say after that slip of mine my husband now says to me... HONEY MAKE SURE YOU SIGN THAT FORM!!!

Good luck and best wishes! (F)

The USCIS has a 5 or more month backlog. They only just got to your case after 5 months, that's why nothing for so long. It is the way it is. You knew that, right?

We were at 7 months when i got the notification of RFE (of course i had to go through VSC). It took 6 days to get the hardcopy in the mail. They issued RFE because they wanted the pre-translated copy of my divorce decree. (I got divorced in Japan) So my divorce decree was originally all in Japanese. I included the translated copy in the original package; but they wanted both (guess they can read Japanese now). So, I sent in that same day of getting RFE and still waiting. It's been 15 days now....

RFE's are irritating because they delay your approval by a few weeks, and that's no fun. But the nice thing about them is that they are a simple, straightforward process that doesn't confuse anybody, least of all the adjudicators.

That's what you really have to fear. When adjudicators, consular officers, CBP officers, immigration officers, or even SSA clerks get confused, bad things happen. As long as no one is confused, everything is fine, even if it's slightly delayed.

DON'T PANIC

"It says wonderful things about the two countries [Canada and the US] that neither one feels itself being inundated by each other's immigrants."

-Douglas Coupland
