Thread has been moved from AOS forum to K-1 forum as OP is at the K-1 stage

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Are you self employed? That may change the number that you look at for qualifying income.

I am self employed

Then you state your current income as it appears on line 22 of your most recent tax return.

Gross income before tax and after deductions.

Huh? Maybe a typo from Dan here but no, for employed people it is gross income before tax or deductions.

For the self employed it is line 22 on the latest tax return.

I am in the same boat - I have to sponsor myself, my daughter, and my fiance. So I was thinking that I would need to make $22,888, but Im pretty sure that amount you and I will need just went up because the 2011 poverty guidelines just were revised. So when I figured it I think we need to make $23,163 now.

Might want to check the USCIS website.

see form i-864p. This gives you the guidelines. Also, because of taking so long for approval, I suggest moving one level up. (if you have 3, look at 4 for the minimum.) This way you are adjusting in advance for inflation plus you are not fighting for approval later on because the level changed while your income did not change. I hope all goes well for you.

For a family of 3 people it is $22,887 USD.

For the initial process you only need to make 100% of Poverty Guidelines.

So the stated amount above is incorrect.

You need to make $18,530.

At AOS you need to make 125% of Poverty Guidelines.

Inluding all three of you.

Many consulates apply the 125% income standards for K petitions. It is best to consult the embassy/consulate directly and/or VJ members that have interivewed recently at that embassy for the correct info.

Sorry no like Ahn map says most consul/embassy require the 125% at the interview for the 134 as well as for AOS. The above amount is not incorrect.
