Color copies of Passport and Birth Cert?

Can the petitioner send a color copy of both the birth cert and passport, or do they have to send the originals? Thanks!

hi there you send copies of everything i sent color copies of each page of passport which looked 20 times better than black and white and so much clearer to read passport stamps and front and copy of birth certificate you keep originals un less ask for them good luck in your journey..

ALWAYS send copies! Color or B&W is ok.

Bring the originals to the interview (if you have one) for them to examine if they ask.

K-1 only uses copy. Colour copys of the passport.

Only use originals WITH copys at the interview. Ask them to keep the copy and take the original back. You will need your originals in the US for other things.

The petition, G325a forms and letters of intent are the "originals". Everything else is a copy. If you sent your passport, how would you travel?

it's up to you - as long as the pictures of the copies come out visible - it took me a few tries to get copies of my wife's naturalization certificate copied well enough to have her face not being just a black silhouette and the text not all washed out .

During the green card interview the IO copied photos out of our wedding album and let me tell you - if I didn't know it was us, I would have never known from the looks of those copies

Color copies will be good enough. I actually used that huge multifunction office printer and the color copies I made for my I-129F came out with fantastic quality, mostly because I am a quality freak

thanks for all your answers...good info!! What if my fiance doesn't go to the interview, (he may be working)... I did get some color copies of his passport that turned out really clear.

Either works, usually color copies are more clear. Though if you have a good quality scanner, black and white can be crystal clear as well.

he doesn't have to be present. just think that you two might be near, but most couples have thousands of miles between them. I am sure that the majority of us had their K1 interview alone.

your then spouse will have to be present to the AOS interview, but that's a different thing and it's clearly indicated in the interview letter.

Always only send copies unless specifically asked for originals. Plus, might you not need your passport to travel? What would you do if you sent it in the packet and then needed to travel? At any rate, some members suggest sending color copies. I sent legible black and white copies of all pages of my US passport and my petition was approved with no problems or RFEs (okay, the only problem was the LONG wait for my petition's approval).

You would be better of by asking other VJ members with Canadian beneficiaries, particularly those who have already been through the interview. Were they approved even if the US petitioner was not present? My perception is that Canada is an "easy" consulate and the US petitioner's presence is not absolutely necessary as it is in other high fraud, difficult consulates. For example, if I want my fiance to have even the slightest hope of getting his visa I WILL have to be with him at his interview in Santo Domingo, DR. On the other hand, beneficiaries from other countries can easily get their visa approval without the US petitioner being present the day of the interview.

for K1 do they want just the Main page of passport copied? if you show evidence of airfare and pictures of each visit to see fiance why do they need visa pages? that is lots of pages.
