Don't you think the Regional Forums belong up in the "informational" section? There's a lot of immigration advice in them.

Yes, but they also do serve a good purpose on the site. Over the years we have had it both ways and the current way seems to provide a better foundation for the community (local areas for each region / country).

As for moderators, I would like to add a handful more to the upper forums and would be open to someone to help police OT in addition to the current staff. The current Global Moderators, Upper Forums, Regional Forums, OT. I don;t want to micro the duties out into each forum, but this general strategy works well for many online sites.

I suggest one or more of the following for OT/PR - chri'stina, sandinista!, Sofiyya, Some Old Guy. I believe any of them will apply the rules as they exist without much bias.

I'm serious. You'd be fair and you do spend a lot of time here so you'd also be available. Availability is a problem with the current crop of mods - too many reports get addressed many hours later.

Pooky would make a fine mod as well.

I think Soffiyya would be too biased and surprised that she would be even considered. Of course if want to be indoctrinated on how great Islam is then she would be the perfect choice.

Then put Regional Sub Forums under the Embassy/Consular Forum so the appropriate immigration advice goes there. You can leave the original Regionals in their place for socializing. Mod them so immigration info goes to the new sub-forums.

I know that might sound daft, but I kind of think that posters from the "easy" countries don't realize how hard other members have it. Maybe if the country specific immigration info was up where it belongs.............better understanding? More compassion?

The regional forums are a great idea and have helped many here. It is also where I hang a lot and help as much as possible as many have helped me before. The only problem I ever saw with them is that I never knew there was a regional part for a long time. Still many don't so maybe just put a sticky in certain sections letting people know that they are there and may be a good idea to go check in there for specific areas and expertise.

Hear you about the easy places. I see sometimes someone complain about something and have to laugh as there are many that wish for their problems.

I doubt Ewok wants to see this thread turn to Sofiyya bashing, so you should stop. I suggested her name because she strikes me as right for the job. If you disagree, you can say so (you already have) without going down the path of attacking her over and over again.

FWIW I disagree with the slim idea.
