Traveling after marriage

Hi guys, with the delays I now have time to really think and plan things out. So, honeymoon stuff. Where can we go and what travel documents will she be able to have right off the bat?

We plan to get married 2-3 weeks after she enters the country. And yep, I know we can't travel out of the country, but I'm hoping we can get on a plane to Puerto Rico perhaps? Ideas are welcome!

Awesome! Yep, I was thinking something along the lines of Hawaii. But I was wondering, which documents would she need and which would she have in such a short period after arriving to the US from Bolivia. Get my drift?

My fiancé and I are deciding to go US Virgin Island, Puerto Rico or Hawaii. I contacted CBP just to make sure that a K1 visa holder can fly to any of those places without the Advanced Parole, since they US territories.

Here is what they replied:

"U.S. territories are a part of the United States. Travelers returning directly from a U.S. territory are not considered to have left the U.S. territory. U.S. territories include the following: Guam, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Swains Island and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI)."

if traveling inside the US or US territories she needs no travel authority/documents other than her passport (as ID) if traveling by air... get my drift...

Virgins Islands (both, US and British) are a third world country and I'm afraid you will be disappointed. In contrast, Hawaii, especially Maui, is fantastic! While my wife and I didn't like Puerto Rico very much either, you may actually like it. I've never been to Guam.

The Big Bend area would be wonderful for a honeymoon, if you take precautions. CBP/ICE has checkpoints in the Big Bend, the very worst being the station south of Alpine. Be very careful that you married within 90 days of the immigrant's entry into the U.S. When traveling anywhere in Texas within a 100-mile radius of the Mexican border (or, in reality, anywhere much south of I-10), carry your marriage certificate with you. If you've applied for AOS and have received the NOA1, bring the NOA1; if you've applied but haven't received it, bring a photocopy of your cover-letter for the AOS package.

Thanks for the tip. I hadn't even though about checkpoints close to the border. We'll be married within the 90 days. But if we leave right after we're married, what would we need to take? We won't have the official license yet. I thought we would probably mail the paperwork for AOS when we get back.

If we do go down there, any recommendations for things to make sure we see there? I've never been around that part of the state.

You may not have the marriage certificate yet, unless you can convince the Justice of the Peace to let you hightail the signed marriage license to the courthouse yourself, in which case a kindly clerk may be able to print marriage certificates then 'n' there. Note: Order at least 5 copies of the marriage certificate -- you'll need them for AOS, banks (etc.), mothers-in-law, and for yourself.
