NOA2 approval beats the average

Hello all, I was pretty surprised the other day to find the NOA2 in my mailbox a scant 40 days after I got my NOA1. I was thrilled that the approval came in so quickly, as I was expecting a much longer wait given the timelines I had seen on this website. I understand that the package will now go to the Nat'l Visa Center, where it should arrive in about two weeks. Afterward, however, I'm not so thrilled with what I see...it appears that the average wait to get an interview in Havana is well over 200 days. I see someone got an interview in something like 138 days, however, so maybe my luck will continue....anyone with some experience in how long it took to get the interview in Havana, please feel free to comment....especially with what you did between NOA2 and the interview specific to Cuba. Thanks!

WOW What awesome news!! You have to think of it like this, even if your interview does take a while, you are going to be waiting so much less time than if your NOA2 had taken 5 months, you already cut almost 4 months out of the wait time. Stay positive, maybe things will move quickly still.

Ooh I hope ours is faster than expected!! :D

The guy whose case number is just a few places after me, which is also a K-1 case, got approval already. I filed around Dec. 17 so that guy must be filed around aboutthe same time.

Case number: WAC1190155909

Don't know who is the lucky guy.

That is some great news OP! Congrats on your approval. Hopefully, I'm not too far behind you.

As for Cuba, I haven't heard much on specific timelines. You may want to visit the Cuban portal and post something in their specific forum. Good luck!

I also had an experience similar to yours I was approved in 17 days, between NOA2 and when the embassy recieves the packet it took no more than three weeks, when you recieve the news that the packet was sent to Havana tell your fiance to call directly to the embassy (53)-7833-3551/59, to know if the packet is already there to pick up, in that time you could request an interview appointment, and thats when the process gets longer at least that was what happened to me we've had to wait 7 months for the interview in Havana, I called several times to try to change the date of the interview but it was impossible, I hope that your's doesn't take as long! You can see in the cuban portal other members who are still waiting for the interview too, I wish you both good luck in the future and through the rest of the process

petitions with Cuban beneficiaries tend to be approved much faster than others....I remember when we were waiting for the i-129 to be approved, I had barely received our NoA1 and someone w/ a cuban fiance who had mailed their petition at the same time as me was already posting their NoA2 receipt news. I believe the second phase, the time to interview is much longer however....you may want to check the timelines for that.

That's your NOA1 :)

I'm not so sure. The electronic message for NOA1 normally looks more like this:

On November 22, 2010, we received this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E), and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or contact our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

It states how they "will" process the case. In Nath & Jordan's case, it says the case has been processed.

Hopefully they'll let us know for sure when the hardcopy shows up.

Yeah that's what I thought but it seems nobody else has that as an NOA1.....I'm hoping its good news. Its just strange seeing as they used the word "PROCESSED" but I guess I'll just have to wait and see if anything develops.

Also does anyone else who filed around my time (receipt 5th nov) have any of the grey circular boxes blue? I've heard that happens but as of yet I don't

Many thanks for your help and replies guys :)
