Here is how my citizenship interview experience went.

Hubby and I got to their location at 1:15p. I handed in my interview letter and drivers license. I took back the letter and walked away only to hear, hello! Ma'am! You left your drivers license.... I was like oh no not a good way to start. Then we proceeded to the lobby and waited and waited and waited. Sitting there as the IO's coming out and calling names, am wondering which one of them was gonna call my name. Finally at about 2:15 my name was called.

IO Seigez said before u sit, raise your right hand blah blah blah. He went thru a few of the info on the application. Then the have u been deported etc. Then the would u bear arms etc. Then he said are u ready for the civic test, I said I hope so. He asked 6 questions.

1. When was the declaration of indepence adopted

2. Name one of the two longest river

3. We elect a US president for how many years

4. Who is the current speaker of the house

5. What do we call the first ten amendments.

6. ??? Am drawing a blank

Then he asked me to read "Where is the White House located" ? Then he had me write "the White House is located in Washington DC. I signed my pics and other docs. Then he said I am recommending u for approval. You will get your oath letter in the mail within 30 days as he does not know the date for the next scheduled ceremony.

The IO was neither friendly nor mean, I would say he was professional. It was in Oakland Park, Florida. At the end I said YEAH, he smiled and said congratulations. My file was so thick and it was 3 thick binders.

Congrats bonerboner...., finally, it's time to laugh at the past... it turns out that "freaking out" before the interview was really unnecessary... (but you just can't help it...)

Thank u so much VJ friends. I still have to deal with them one more time... But just for the oath ceremony. Then it will be behind me... The long wait, the anxiety, the gathering and storing of documents is all history now. I am happy that part is behind me now.
