I called uscis today and my goal, since we are 3 days over our 5 months, was to get escalated to Level 2.

Level 1 tried to put me off, and said they were processing july 10 currently, which they have been stating for the last month. I told him that can't be true as I belong to an online site and I know that some people in august are being approved.

He hesitated and then put me through to level 2. I waited approx 1 hour and 10 mins and got hung up on. Nobody ever answered. After about 50 minutes the music stopped playing and I eventually was disconnected.

This Vermont center is really a joke.. They hit me with that same July 10th schpeel back on December 30th when I was at my 5 month mark. I have really have lost alot of respect for my own country of Birth while going through this process word on the street is the delay is due to the temporary Protection visas for the illegal Hatians that are in the USA now .. that to me is just totally unacceptable and backwards

Sorry to hear about your call...I would still give it a good try, but keep in mind even if they do give you information that they tend to sit on this stuff and then bulk mail responses out. I was told by the second level that an RFE was issued 12/16 and it really was not sent until 1/5!!! It ruined my holidays...

NOA1 received - 9/17/13

I called the CSC not too long ago. It was just past the 5 month mark.

The representative was extrememly nice and informative which helped me keep my cool.

This representative told me that the CSC was requesting (like I could say no right?) for an extra 21 days beyond the 5 month normal processing time.

I keep reminding myself that the representatives we speak with aren't the ones that give the approval but rather messengers who give details from a computer screen. They're average every day 9 to 5 workers like you and I who want to go home to their families at the end of the day in a good mood.

I will probably call again to request a service call because it's been beyond the 5 month mark... because I will probably end up with a different representative who may just have a different answer.

For anybody calling any of the service centers: Remember to remain calm, polite and respectable. They are the ones who hold the cards at this point and being aggressive, angry or disrespectful is more likely to get you nothing. Remember that these representatives have been dealing with callers all day (for a long time). You could either add to that frustration (for them) or try and alleviate it by being polite and respectful. I'm hoping that doing so will only help in my end desire of receieving a true answer.

Good luck filers!

So there you go. Be patient and stop sweating the minor details. If you are confident you filled out the forms correctly and supplied the necessary evidence, all will be OK. I can almost guarantee it.....getting past the Embassy is your own problem.

Call again. I have heard of cases where the VJ member called back immediately, got a different level 1 operator and got much better results.
