can anyone help me,?i wonder if i can go travel in the philippines even though i didnt apply for advance parole but hopefully i can have my greencard?i really want to go home this coming april...

So long as you have your greencard, then you will be fine. AP is meant as an interim measure whilst waiting for the greencard to be processed.

I wouldn't make any travel plans until you have your greencard in hand though

your friend must have misunderstood what the consul told her. UNTIL she receives a green card, she will need an AP document if she wants to reenter the US after a travel abroad.

on the other hand she is free to exit whenever she wants, the US doesn't care about who leaves, they don't even check or stamp your passport.

As long as you PHYSICALLY have the greencard in your posession, then you're good to go. Advance Parole is for those between the filing and approval process. Have a great time visiting home. :)

The first greencard that you receive after adjusting status is a 2 year conditional one. Once received, this greencard gives you permission to work and travel.

EAD (work authorisation) and AP (advanced parole) are usually filed with the AOS to give you permission to work and travel whilst the greencard is being processed. :guides:

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Be glad that you have an interview date. Many here who were sent to CSC thought they were lucky, and not needing an interview, and just get GC in the mail so easy. BUT, now they are just waiting and waiting for months on end with no witness or nothing happening.... We are so happy you have an interview date to get your Green Card. You will do fine! :star:
