While talking to our congressman's office today regarding an RFE issue we are having, he tells me they are going to just back off our case because they are running into a brick wall asking the CSC for the status of our case and why we got the RFE. They won't give him any information other than my husband needs to do the medical all over again. They won't budge or give him ANY other info at all, so he decided to just stop trying. He says they have really no power over this situation at all if the CSC won't cooporate. So, if a congressman really has NO power over anything like this, or even any persuasion, why engage them at all?

Thoughts? Comments?

We must remember what a congressional inquiry entails. The congressman/senator can only inquire as to the status of your USCIS case. They cannot get any details regarding your RFE, nor can they persuade USCIS to make a decision. The most they can do is have USCIS touch your case. It is then up to USCIS to adjudicate your case, or require additional information.

I hope this helps. Good luck with your journey!

Thats right. I actually contacted the Congressman's office about my case 2months ago and they said have to wait bcoz the processing time is 5-6 months at the service center. The constituent Aide told me that he will call again after a month but when I contacted him again, he didnt reply at all. I think its useless to call them. But at that time he called the service center, my case was updated. :innocent: I am not sure if it really works or just a waste of time.

Well we are not sure at the moment if anything happened. According to an email he got from CSC, they sent us an intent to deny on 11/10, which we never received. When I called the USCIS they said nothing has been sent yet, and they are still adjudicating our response to the original RFE. We are sitting on pins and needles now and don't know what to do.

You have learned the value of a politician in these matters. They are useless unless in most instances.

The intent to deny may have been sent because they hadnt registered the RFE yet after you sent it. Make sure they have your correct address at USCIS & the U S post office.

The best thing to do now is to make an INFO PASS appointment & go talk to USCIS in person. Find the link on their web site to set the appointment date & time. My RFE took 60 days to be approved.

Yep that's the reality. USCIS marches to their own drummer and do not answer to them.

So, kind of on a whim, I actually wrote a letter to the President regarding our immigration issue. Anyone wanna take a bet that we will only get back a form letter..if we get anything back? I can only hope something good will come of this.
