They are strict. You tell whomever is taking your photo you want a 2 x 2 passport photo. Give them a copy of the specification that is provided that shows the size. Since everything is digital, they can adjust the size. Just remember, as you fill out all the other forms, provide EXACTLY what is being asked. Don't guess or think it is not important.

Hi can anyone help - just about to send off our K1 visa (I'm in the uk, my boyfriend US) how strict are they about the 2 x 2 passport photo size, as I'm having difficulty getting this size in the uk, I can only get 39mm by 45mm - thanks

If you can go to he US Embassy, maybe they can take the pics for you. My fiance paid $6 for four photos at the embassy.

USCIS requires a 2"x2" passport photo. They will reject your package for having incorrect passport photos.

June 6, 2007 - USCIS received

June 11, 2007 - NOA1 for I-485

July 18, 2007 - Biometrics completed

July 20, 2007 - Case transferred from MSC to CSC

July 31, 2007 - AOS Approved - 57 days - Without an Interview!

Aug 06, 2007 - Received Green Card in the mail today!

Jan 8, 2009 @ 8:18PM - Our son was born tonight !!

I-751 - Remove Conditions

July 11, 2009 - Certified Mail to VSC I-751 Package

July 14, 2009 - Check cleared bank

July 20, 2009 - NOA1 & 1 yr extension - Receipt date is July 14. Case# assigned

Sept 1, 2009 - Biometrics completed

Nov 25, 2009 - I-751 is approved. No Interview.

Dec 14, 2009 - 10yr Green Card arrived !

i had to have them zoom out on the photo and cut it down to get the size right, in canada our passport photos are normally 2x3

04-05-2018: Case status updated - Interview Scheduled on May 10, 2018, 10:15 a.m. :D

05-10-2018: Citizenship Interview - Passed English and Civics Tests, Recommended for Approval! :D 

06-19-2018: Received email and text notification: Naturalization Ceremony Scheduled; waited for letter to be uploaded on online account - it has been set on Wednesday, July 25, 3:00 p.m.

07-25-2018: I am now a U.S. Citizen!
